Alleged Former id Employees Speak Out Against the Company

Alleged Former id Employees Speak Out Against the Company - 2014-05-15 10:47:01

With Wolfenstein: The New Order set for release at the end of the month, some reviews of what it’s like to work for the company have surfaced. They were found on Glassdoor.com, a site where employers can review the companies they worked for anonymously.  While these ads date back to last year, the most recent review went up on April 6, 2014.

A former developer for the company wrote it. The anonymous writer stated that the thing he or she most enjoyed about working there was the chance to work on titles like Quake, Wolfenstein and Doom, but there was more bad than good.

“Expect lots of inappropriate jokes, comments and a generally unprofessional work environment,” says the former developer.

That seemed to be the big issue. To the ex id employee, there were management issues, favoritism and lack of appreciation for talent. It was also stated that most of the tech team left to work at Oculus.  The other big problem stated was that projects got abandoned midway through development when issues would occur. Instead of fixing them, they would just get scrapped.  That wasn’t the only review that had those issues as well. In the two previous—one written by a former employee and the other written by a current employee—those are huge problems with the management structure.  One even called the company a “sinking ship”.

CGM has reached out to Bethesda for a rebuttal, but they’ve yet to respond.
