Fortnite Is Bringing 4 Iconic Overwatch Heroes To Battle Island This Week

After many rumours, Fortnite and Overwatch have ripped off the band-aid and revealed that four OG Overwatch heroes are coming to Battle Island this week.

It’s finally out of the rumour mill and made official: Overwatch is coming to Fortnite. Four of Overwatch‘s most iconic heroes will cross over into Fortnite, and they’re landing on Battle Island this week. Overwatch’s OG heroes: Tracer, Mercy, D.Va and Genji will make a splash as part of a new collaboration with Epic Games. The heroes were revealed in a trailer, which can be seen below, showing them in action.

The trailer starts with Battle Island mainstays, Jonesy and Fishstick, on the ropes during a particularly gruelling firefight. As Jonesy tows his buddy towards safety, it appears this is the end of the road for the heroes, until Mercy flies in out of nowhere and drops much-needed heals and her signature catchphrase, “Heroes never die!” To add to the arrival, Tracer pipes in with her own “The Cavalry’s here!” D.Va, on the other hand, brought a huge sword.

It appears the collaboration doesn’t stop at just character skins. Elements from the catalogue of Overwatch maps will take over portions of Battle Island, as pieces of instantly recognizable maps from Blizzard’s hero shooter will be scattered throughout Battle Island. The trailer’s artwork teases that the King’s Row clocktower will be featured in Fortnite‘s map (possibly as part of Sandy Strip). It’s worth noting that although the trailer was cool and cinematic, no gameplay was shown for the heroes, and it remains to be seen whether Mercy’s healing staff can be used in-game (although the cinematic showed it in action).

The Fortnite x Overwatch collaboration kicks off tomorrow, so fans can take to Battle Island as some of the OG Overwatch heroes then.
