Major leaks have plagued the internet this weekend for the rumoured GTA 6 game and upcoming Diablo 4 game.
Yesterday (Sunday, September 18), had two major leaks from Rockstar Games’ parent company, Take-Two Interactive—along with Blizzard. The leaks involved unreleased games, Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6 and Diablo 4. So far, Take-Two has been the most active in flagging and attempting to scrub any leaked information as much as possible since nothing had been revealed about the game. Rockstar Games has issued a brief statement on the matter. Blizzard has yet to comment on the Diablo 4 leaks.
Take-Two has reportedly asked two of the biggest GTA Reddit communities to take down any content related to the GTA 6 leak—the GTAForums and GTA6 subreddit. The GTAForums thread was first spotted by Tom Henderson where a message read, “We have been contacted by Take-Two Interactive to take down copyrighted material from GTAForums. As usual with previous games, we will be complying and this topic will be re-opened in due course. Thanks for understanding.”
The GTA6 subreddit was temporarily down for some time but returned with a warning message for users. The message stated, “We are opening the subreddit with a condition that no one can post links, photos and videos of recent leaks…This is done so to protect the subreddit from getting obliterated by Rockstar Games. However, we will allow discussions related to the leak without attaching the leaks. We don’t allow comments that have download links to the leak.”
YouTube videos have also been removed on behalf of the requests made by Take-Two, which could spell some truth to the leaks being legitimate. However, none of the leaked details were ever confirmed to be in the final product of the unreleased GTA 6 game. Rockstar Games released a statement this morning commenting on the situation, ensuring that there would be no disruption to the development of the planned game.
As for Diablo 4, there have not been any reports of flagging the leaked footage from Blizzard’s end. The Reddit user, “iV1rus0” originally posted in the r/Games thread with “53 minutes of Diablo IV leaked beta gameplay footage.” Where GTA seemed like a recent hack in Rockstar’s systems, the Diablo 4 video leak seamed to originate from a private Discord server that was streamed.
The supposed Diablo 4 footage had two viewers commenting on what they were seeing—began with the first viewer asking, “Are you watching Skye right now?” Afterwards, the second viewer tried to guess what the game could be, making suggestions like a new Witcher game or possibly a “Skyrim 2.” The footage was clearly heavy on the watermarks “PRIVATE TEST BUILD” plastered on it and just showed the player exploring the game’s world as a Barbarian character. The open world was quite massive and the viewer guessing a new Skyrim could be justified.
Gameplay trailers have already been released for Diablo 4, but could still be detrimental to the reception of the game based on the leak, even more so for GTA 6 since nothing was officially announced from Rockstar yet.
