Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Gets First Look with Sylvester Stallone Costume

Stakar Stallone Is Never Down For the Count

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Gets First Look with Sylvester Stallone Costume 1

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has not received any video teasers or trailers, but there have been many set photo teasers bringing lots of excitement.

Marvel’s Eternals just dropped into theatres earlier this month and Disney+ Day just brought a bunch of first looks at the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) for the streaming platform. Today, Sylvester Stallone posted a photo on Instagram that showed off his costume for his character, Stakar Ogord (Starhawk) from the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 set.

The photo reveals a bright blue, leathery suit with the Ravager symbol emblazoned on Stallone’s right shoulder. The gold linings are an interesting touch and maybe is a tease for the character getting a suit upgrade from his all-black look we saw in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2—a potential setup for the character to become Starhawk. The photo on Stallone’s account has been recently taken down unfortunately, but it can be found here as it was saved by the beautiful internet posts and Twitter.

The caption was interesting as well, as it read on Instagram, “Yes, what’s coming your way? Keep your guard up.” This is not exactly clear if it is a hint to something we will see in the new Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 film or if it is just Stallone being cool and informative, or just to flex on his followers.

It is great to see Stallone return as Stakar after Michael Rooker’s Yondu sacrificed himself to save Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) because it means the cameo was not just a one-off appearance. Perhaps, Peter and all the Ravagers will have to face the biggest threat they have ever faced—even bigger than Thanos! Nothing is for certain and maybe Stallone has a small part to play again, but I think it is going to be his time to shine as Peter’s new fatherly figure.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is slated to be released May 5, 2023.
