Limit Zero Breakers Preview – What We Can Expect To See From The Prologue Test

We got an exclusive peek at what Limit Zero Breakers will be including in their Prologue Playtest, as well as what might be coming in the future.

Limit Zero Breakers is an upcoming anime action RPG by VIC Game Studios, partnered with animation studio MAPPA to bring the anime-style animations to life, and publisher Kadokawa to help make extra material like light novels and manga based on the game.

Designed as a free-to-play gacha game, Limit Zero Breakers will be something similar to Genshin Impact and Wuthering Waves, with a live-service model planned to keep the story moving while also adding new playable characters obtainable from Scouting, Breakers‘ gacha system. Limit Zero Breakers is natively designed for both PC and mobile, with cross-play functionality for multiplayer between both platforms.

There isn’t a set release date for Limit Zero Breakers just yet, but VIC will be running a Prologue Test from June 10 – 15. This early preview of the game will feature three continents for players to explore across the world of Seraphia, the lands of Arcana with lush forests, the snowy mountains of Radion, and the massive city of Asterion. There will be eleven Breakers players can choose from, either available from quests or from using the Scouting system, as well as five different Raid bosses to battle in the endgame.

The world of Seraphia was shaped by gods and is ruled by angels, made up of many floating ruins and forgotten realms. This world is inhabited by adventurers called Breakers, who spend their journeying days seeking to fulfill their own wishes, chasing after the legends of the “Archive of the Gods,” a vault that is said to grant any wish. Players will enter this world as Kaito, a boy with no memory who finds himself working with a team of Breakers on the airship Weaver Whale.

The combat of Limit Zero Breakers features real-time action with many strategic mechanics to master. Every Breaker has a basic attack, an invulnerable dodge, different special and elemental skills that require a passive Energy resource akin to stamina, and an Ultimate. The player will typically be playing in a team of three Breakers, either with two other players in co-op or by utilizing the seamless swap feature to easily access each member of the team.

Each Breaker has a signature elemental affinity, and by swapping between your team to deal different elemental damage, you can activate Forward or Reverse Element Reactions. Enemies affected by this will enter a Forward or Reverse State, which will apply debuffs to the enemy depending on the elemental combo. Damage to enemies will also damage their Break Gauge, which, when depleted, will stun the enemy and cause them to take massive damage. Using multiple Ultimate abilities in a fight will also work towards unlocking the Weaver Lance, the most powerful single attack in the game.

The progression of Limit Zero Breakers will include various side quests rewarding currency, experience, and the many crafting materials needed to upgrade your Breakers using the crafting and synthesis systems. Scouting can also be used to pull for new Breakers and upgrade materials, with most of the currency needed being paid with real-world money, but some can also be gained just from playing the game. There is also a pity system feature that will help players get the Breaker they want if they can’t pull them from Scouting.

Upgrading each Breaker will be necessary for Raid Mode, the game mode that pits teams of Breakers against the most powerful boss monsters found during the story of Limit Zero Breakers. Raids can be done solo or with two other players in co-op, with five Raid bosses to choose from during the Prologue test.

Just beating each boss isn’t all there is, however, as Breakers will need to work towards a battle ranking system. The more damage a Breaker can deal without getting hit, the higher the final battle rank will be, which will significantly increase the reward of each Raid, including more crafting materials for endgame gear.

Besides hard Raid Mode boss battles, the endgame for Limit Zero Breakers features an “enemy wave” game mode and a Guild system. Guild level is separate from player and Breaker level, and as that level increases, the player is able to access more and more difficult challenges, including a sort of boss rush mode that the preview hosts alluded to.

The Limit Zero Breakers preview hosts also shared what we should expect from the game in the future, although new features not seen in the Prologue Test will be considered closer to and post-launch, not before. When asked about PvP, Gameplay Project Lead for QA, Ren Ito, said there were no plans for PvP at the moment, and that Limit Zero Breakers “…is a PvE-based game.”

There is also no content schedule for the live service updates planned out just yet, but Associate Producer Evan Hill said that a proper outline will be ready by the time the game is ready to launch. After a question about player housing in the Weaver Whale, Ito said that it will be discussed after launch. Ito continued to explain that the Weaver Whale is the main hub that will be gaining new features as the game development progresses, such as new abilities to swap with the Weaver Lance being added.

For those interested in this new anime-style action game, the Prologue Test playtest will be open from June 10-15, with sign-ups still ongoing until June 1. The game will be available on Steam, the iOS App Store, Google Play, and PURPLE.
