Meet Leon Kennedy’s would-be killers in Capcom’s latest trailer

Meet Leon Kennedy's would-be killers in Capcom's latest trailer

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City will give you a new perspective on the outbreak.

Just when you thought Leon Kennedy’s first day on the job couldn’t get any worse, Capcom rolls out a new trailer for Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City. The former protagonist is now a target, and if the latest gameplay footage is any indication, his problems go well beyond a few errant zombies. The video introduces us to the members of the U.S.S. squad that’s been sent in to take care of the outbreak, and it looks like they’ll be using Umbrella’s secret military tech to put a bullet in Leon’s fragile brain (spoiler alert).

While the gameplay isn’t particularly exciting – it’s fairly standard SOCOM fare – Operation Raccoon City is taking some interesting liberties with the Resident Evil storyline. The game might not be canon if you’re actually allowed to kill Leon – he still has to take care of a certain situation in Spain – but it’s looking like we’re really going to be the bad guys and I like the fact that Capcom is trying something new.

The new trailer is below. I’ll be curious to see what Slant Six has come up with when Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City debuts sometime next winter.
