This week, No Man’s Sky tore the curtain back to reveal a massive update called Echoes, and there is a large amount of new content for fans to explore following INTERCEPTOR.
INTERCEPTOR was No Man’s Sky update 4.2, and it introduced new robotic guardian enemies that can prove to be a threat to Travellers. Hello Games released update 4.4 Echoes details this week, which expands the narrative introduced in INTERCEPTOR, and allows Travellers to uncover mysteries of the Autophage — a more peaceful civilization of robotic guardians — and adopt some of their culture, like their language, ultimately allowing players to craft their own ceremonial staff. The trailer for the Echoes update 4.4 can be seen below.
No Man’s Sky Update 4.4 Echoes Details
- Find and confront pirate dreadnought boss ships that terrorize space and dive directly into their infrastructure to defeat them from the inside.
- The new Multi-Tool Decommissioning Terminal aboard the Space Anomaly allows Travellers to dismantle unused weaponry to earn valuable salvage.
- Foveated rendering, which boosts resolution and emphasizes where the player looks as opposed to peripherals, is added to the PSVR 2 version of No Man’s Sky.
- Starship combat gets more depth, and by diverting power to engines, shields, or weapons, Travellers can strategically plan their combat as it’s happening to increase efficiency.
- The VOYAGERS expedition lets players find and catalogue the largest oceans and the wonders of the universe. Of course, netting Travellers exotic rewards in return.
- A new Atlantid class of Multi-tool is made available in “hundreds” of variants.
- A Wonder Projector allows Travellers to showcase their base’s favourite discoveries.
- More precision is added to spacial combat in No Man’s Sky, adding a new HUD that allows players to see the hull integrity of targets, whether a merchant freighter or a massive dreadnought.
On top of all the improvements, the Nintendo Switch version of No Man’s Sky will also receive visual improvements and allow players to equip capes.
