The no-extra-charge Dark Souls Collector’s Edition is one incredible pre-order bonus.

Dark Souls is the spiritual successor to Demon’s Souls, so it’s definitely not looking to make things easy. If you need a few hints, however, you can just pre-order the game and get a little extra help. Namco Bandai has launched the official Dark Souls website at PrepareToDie.com (sadly, no references to The Princess Bride), and in the process they’ve disclosed the details for the newly revealed Collector’s Edition.

The Dark Souls Collector’s Edition includes a hardcover art book, as well as the official soundtrack and a behind-the-scenes video as exclusive downloads. It also includes a strategy guide, which should come in handy if you’re on the verge of snapping your controller.

All of those extras come at no extra charge as long as you pre-order the title, so there’s no reason not to grab the Dark Souls Collector’s Edition. It’s a tough game, and there’s no shame in a strategy guide if you can’t handle the abuse.

Dark Souls is scheduled for release in October and will be available for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
