Latest Pokémon Legends: Arceus Trailer Shows Scary Footage

Halloween Season Just Got Unexpectedly Spookier

Latest Pokemon Legends: Arceus Trailer Shows Scary Footage 1

This Pokémon trailer is not for the light-hearted audiences.

Who would’ve thought Pokémon could be made into a Blair Witch rendition? It features two minutes of a researcher in the wild documenting their findings with a very horror, found-footage style narration.

The video is titled “Rare footage of the Hisui region discovered!” on the official Pokémon YouTube channel. The video description hints at what’s being shown: “A researcher has made a rare discovery in the Canalave Library: some mysterious footage that appears to document the landscape of the Hisui region… Please examine this footage and report back with your findings—they may prove useful during your adventures in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.” The only findings I could mark down is that I won’t sleep well tonight.

Despite the spookiness of the grainy, scratchy film grain video, the researcher encountered some cute, little Snorunts atop a dark, snowy mountain. The video capture style made it seem scarier than they should have been. Then, the researcher seems to have found a dog or wolf-like creature as they mistake it for a Growlithe or Vulpix. They go on to describe it as “having a red tipped tail, white fur on the top of its head and a fluffy neck with round, yellow eyes”, but then something attacks the researcher and the footage cuts. Who knew Pokémon could be so vicious!

It’s unclear if it’s a Hisuian version of a Pokémon already know or if it’s a brand new one. It’s also uncertain what the fate of the researcher was. Did he die?! This trailer really brings the Halloween vibes with this new trailer. The open-world game stressed how it will focus on documenting Pokémon and building up the first Pokedex for the Hisui region. If this is what it’s like doing this, it’s definitely going to be an interesting take on the game series.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus releases early next year on Jan. 28, 2022 on Nintendo Switch.
