Resident Evil Veronica Announced At Summer Game Fest

Capcom have unveiled Resident Evil Veronica at Summer Game Fest.

Summer Game Fest has officially started, with Geoff Keighley’s event kicking off with Resident Evil Veronica. The latest remake goes back to the early years of the franchise, bringing forward 2000’s Resident Evil – Code: Veronica. The trailer starts with the rainy streets of Paris, as a mysterious figure enters an apartment building. Greeted by a kindly old woman, they go together to a room that definitely needs a good cleaning.

Left alone in the room, our protagonist looks at some cookies on the table before there’s a knock at the door. Looking through the viewfinder reveals nothing, and when she opens it, she’s quickly attacked by a mystery assailant. The trailer continues with a number of cuts across spooky locations, revealing Claire Redfield as the protagonist. It ends with a number of zombies attacking Claire, before revealing a 2027 launch window. PS5, XBOX Series X|S, Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2 have been confirmed as launch platforms.

Resident Evil Veronica continues Capcom’s remakes of the iconic franchise. Resident Evil 4 was the last remake, launching back in 2023 to stellar reviews. Veronica has been one of the most asked-for remakes, with the original coming out on the Sega Dreamcast. It then came to the PS2 as Resident Evil – Code Veronica X in 2001, with a later port bringing it to GameCube. The last time it was released was back on the PS3 and Xbox 360. The original followed both Claire and Chris Redfield as they try to survive a virus outbreak.
