Sissy's Magical Ponycorn Adventure is as fantastic as everyone says

A five-year-old girl made the best video game you’ll play today.

We’re a little late to this particular party (at least as far as the Toronto game development scene is concerned), but it’s awesome so we’re passing this on anyway. The sixth annual indie game development extravaganza that is TOJam – in which small teams of developers raced to complete more than 80 games during one intense three-day weekend – recently took place here in Toronto, and no game has taken off quite like Sissy’s Magical Ponycorn Adventure. The Flash-based adventure game about pony/unicorn hybrids is simply too cute to be ignored and it proves that the most important aspect of game design is an active imagination.

To elaborate, while the programming for Sissy’s Magical Ponycorn Adventure was done by Ryan Henson Creighton of Toronto-based Flash developer Untold Entertainment, all of the actual design – from the NPCs to the artwork to the main character’s voiceover – comes courtesy of Creighton’s five-year-old daughter Cassie, and it’s pretty much the most disarmingly adorable thing ever. You should totally check it out here if you’ve got five minutes to spare (and you should make five minutes if you don’t have five minutes to spare), and I can tell you that I’m never going to look at lemons the same way again.

You can learn all about the Magical Ponycorn development process at the Untold blog, or you can find out more about TOJam at the official event website.
