XSEED announced today that The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel will come to PC this summer.
The PC release of The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel will have five thousand more lines of English voice acting, roughly 50 percent more than the original releases. XSEED also released a short video, comparing the PlayStation 3 version of the game to the upcoming PC release. No extra details were provided but XSEED also confirmed that the game’s sequel, The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II will also see an eventual PC release.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel is an entry in Nihon Falcom’s long running The Legend of Heroes series and the first in the Trails of Cold Steel subseries. The game is a turn based JRPG released on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita in 2015. Taking place in the Erebonian Empire, the player controls a student at Thors Military Academy, the nation’s premier service academy. Players are deployed to various locations across the empire to conduct field studies as the story of the Erebonian Empires worsening tensions with its neighboring nations unfold. The game received positive critical reception, becoming the highest rated PlayStation 3 game on Metacritic in 2015.
The game’s sequel released in September of last year on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. The game plays very similarly to its predecessor, continuing the plot of the first game while removing the school scheduled events of the first game, centering instead on travelling the world. Players with a completed save file of the first game, they’re rewarded with unique dialogue and events based on choices and relationships players originally formed. The Legend of Heroes: Trials of Cold Steel II scored similarly to the first, being recommended to those who already played the first game in the series.
In Japan, The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III is currently being developed for the PlayStation 4, set to release later this year. No English version has been announced yet but one is expected after the game’s release in its home region.
