After a month-long wait, CD Projekt RED has unleashed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered into the wilds, and it brings many upgrades to the equation.
It has been over ten years and counting since The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt took the world by storm, and today, CD Projekt RED is trying to do it all over again.
Today, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered launches, bringing a swathe of improvements, modernizations and quality-of-life upgrades to the game. These include improved visuals and performance, gameplay, character progression, and a lot more. The new version of the game is available as a free upgrade for those who own the original or next-gen editions of the title, and it gives fans an excellent excuse to fire up another save file and walk the path once more. CD Projekt RED has launched a trailer with the Remaster, and it can be seen below.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered Key Features
- Geralt has never looked better, with improved textures for the environment, NPCs, and monsters. Major enhancements to foliage and reworked lighting, rendering, and ray tracing have been added to flesh out the world.
- Combined with other visual enhancements of Remastered, Path Tracing creates the most visually stunning version of The Witcher 3 ever made, and it’s only available on PC.
- The Witcher 3 fully supports PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), and it enables a smooth 60 fps with ray tracing turned on. Performance mode (turning Ray Tracing off) offers up to 90 fps with VRR.
- A reimagined skill system allows fans to explore rebalanced abilities and skills with an overhauled skill tree that modernizes the character progression system, offering deeper flexibility and greater impact on playstyle.
- Combat has been revamped, with new animations, new finishers, and an adaptive camera that makes combat more adaptive, immersive and natural-feeling.
- New animations for Geralt and Roach bring new flavour to movement and traversal, with vaulting, ladder climbing, and more all updated to feel more fluid and realistic.
- Consoles have mods now! With Mod.io integration added to consoles, cross-platform mods now give players the opportunity to create and play a wealth of custom content, helping fans lengthen the journey even after the credits on the base game roll.
- The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered is coming to Nintendo Switch 2. As part of the native Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game, motion controls, mouse functionality and touchscreen functions will be usable.
To get started, fans who own the game and have auto-updates turned on would be surprised to learn they may already have access to the download on their system. All fans have to do (if they own the game) is go to the update screen and hit update. After it loads, you can jump right in without extra payment needed. For newcomers, you can navigate to the store page and purchase it outright, and the Remastered version will be the one that’s automatically installed. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered is developed in close collaboration with the team at Yigsoft, and it will include the two previously released DLC packs (if you don’t own them), Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, for free.
