Everything Announced at the THQ Nordic Digital Showcase

THQ’s Nordics big digital showcase on August 12 had plenty of news to share, on top of a couple of surprising reveals.

In case you weren’t able to tune into the show we’ve compiled a quick overview of everything announced by THQ Nordic during the show, which you can see below along with the official trailers. From family friendly games, to the return of Alone in the Dark, THQ Nordic managed to have an impressive slate, further showing just how many IPs the company now works with.

Alone in the Dark Reboot Announced

The first big reveal was the surprise return of the legendary Alone in the Dark series, with a reboot that takes place in the 1920s American South. THQ Nordic acquired the franchise back in 2018. Here’s the official description from THQ.

“Deep in the 1920’s south, Emily Hartwood’s uncle has gone missing. Together with private investigator Edward Carnby, she embarks on a journey to Derceto Manor to uncover the secrets of this mysterious place and the circumstances of her relative’s vanishing.

Encounter strange residents, nightmarish realms, dangerous monsters and ultimately unveil a plot of rising evil. At the intersection of reality, mystery, and insanity, an adventure waits that will challenge your core beliefs. Who can you trust, what will you believe, and what will you do next?”

Destroy All Humans 2: Reprobed New Trailer

The remake of Destroy All Humans 2 received a lengthy gameplay trailer, showing off a variety of Crypto’s new weapons. Destroy All Humans 2: Reprobed launches on August 30 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Space For Sale Announced

Space for Sale is a brand new space-faring building game that lets you team up with friends to explore alien planets, gather resources, and tame various wild creatures.

Gothic 1 Remake Announced

Another big surprise is the full-blown remake of Gothic 1, the game that started the legendary role-playing series. The remake is being handled by a new studio called Alkimia Interactive, and here’s the official description from THQ Nordic.

“Prepare yourself for a visit in the Old Mine, a dangerous place full of vicious creatures. Descend to the bottom and find Ian – he’s your man. Tell him that Diego sent you. If you come back alive with the supplies list, we can talk about you joining us.”

Jagged Alliance 3 Announced

A new entry in the tactical RPG series, Jagged Alliance, was announced for PC. Just like in past games you’ll be leading a team of hardened mercenaries on dangerous missions. Here’s the official overview.

“Engage in intense battles and spend your action points wisely in strategic, turn-based combat. Use the environment and the strength of your mercenaries to gain an advantage over your enemies. Loot and customize an arsenal of weaponry and get the most out of your special perks to win the battle against The Legion”

The Valiant New Trailer

THQ Nordic showed off a new trailer for The Valiant, the dramatic new RTS game set during the Crusades. It’s a squad-based RTS that puts a big emphasis on using heroes that have various skills and strengths. Here’s the official description from THQ Nordic:

“Embark on a journey of brotherhood and redemption in The Valiant, a squad-based RTS set in 13th Century Europe and the Middle East. Command and level-up your medieval knights as you fight through an epic SP campaign, then take your skills online in both cooperative and competitive MP modes.”

Tempest Rising Announced

Tempest Rising is a brand new RTS set in an alternate history shortly after the Cuban Missile Crisis. The game has three different factions that will all supposedly play a bit differently. Here’s the description from THQ,

“After the Cuban Missile Crisis escalated in 1997, a nuclear World War 3 ensured. All former superpowers were quickly brought to their knees in humanity’s shortest and most devastating conflict yet. The fuel for this war is a new, powerful substance, that can be used as a source of energy – Tempest.”

Knights of Honor II: Sovereign New Trailer

A new trailer was shown off for the upcoming medieval grand strategy game, currently in development for PC. Here’s the official description from THQ Nordic,

“Choose your royal court carefully and determine the destiny of your people, be it riches, conquest, intrigue, trade, or defeat! Raise armies to defend your lands or bring the war to your enemy’s doorstep – even jump directly into battle in action-packed RTS combat.”

Outcast 2: A New Beginning Announced

The first gameplay trailer was revealed for Outcast 2, the sequel to the cult-classic action-adventure game originally released in 1999. Here’s the official description,

“Explore the breathtaking alien world of Adelpha, support the local Talans in their struggles and fight your way through fast-paced battles against invading robot forces in this 3rd-person, open world, action-adventure sequel to the 1999 cult classic.”

Wreckreation Announced

Wreckreation is a brand new open-world racing game that lets you create your very own sandbox that you can play in co-op with your friends.

Way of the Hunter New Trailer

Way of the Hunter releases on August 16 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Ahead of release, THQ showed off a new trailer along with the following description,

“Become the owner of a hunting lodge nestled among gorgeous habitats teeming with wildlife. Discover true-to-life animals and handle various detailed and highly realistic weapons while you face the challenges of a struggling family business.”

AEW Fight Forever New Trailer

The showcase gave us our first look at the upcoming AEW Fight Forever, even revealing the title will have a career mode and selection of minigames.

Stuntfest: World Tour New Trailer

A new trailer was revealed for Stuntfest: World Tour, the upcoming battle royale title with a vehicular twist. Currently in development for PC, here’s the official description

“Dive right into the crazy action circus of Stuntfest -World Tour! This destructive stunt royale is no place for weak bones! Grab your stunt car and battle against other reckless lunatics in nerve-wrecking competitions! Show off your spectacular tricks – race, wreck and bounce with style!”

Spongebob Squarepants: The Cosmic Shake New Trailer

A lengthy trailer was shown off for Spongebob’s latest platforming adventure. The game will feature seven distinct environments to explore and a wide array of Bikini Bottom inhabitants. Here’s the official description,

“Wish-granting Mermaid’s Tears in the hands of SpongeBob and Patrick… What could go wrong? Sure, the very fabric holding the universe together could come undone, opening portals into wild Wishworlds. But that’s nothing our favorite sponge can’t handle- with the right cosmic costume!”
