Ubisoft Announces Big Losses, Confirms New Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Ghost Recon Games by 2029

In its latest earnings call, Ubisoft reported record losses amid restructuring and confirmed major games to help steady the ship by 2029.

On Wednesday, Ubisoft revealed an International Financial Reporting Standards operating loss of 1.3 billion euros, or US$1.40 billion, for the year to March 2026, according to Reuters. Company executives called it “a record.” But amid that reported loss, the company has doubled down on releasing a suite of new titles to help weather the storm by 2029. Ubisoft said it expects a “significantly stronger and diversified content pipeline” over the next two fiscal years ending in 2029, and on the earnings call, said its top franchises will improve its bottom line.

New Assassin’s Creed (suspected heavily to be Assassin’s Creed Hexe), Ghost Recon, and Far Cry titles have been confirmed by the company in the same call, and while Hexe was previously revealed back during an Assassin’s Creed anniversary event showcase, Ghost Recon and Far Cry are surprises. Since that showcase aired, one of the revealed Assassin’s Creed titles from 2022 (Assassin’s Creed Shadows, previously referred to as “Red”) has launched, leaving codename Hexe, Jade and the announced Netflix partnership from back then yet to be released. The company’s financial year runs from April 1st to March 31st, which means the new suite of titles is supposed to arrive by March 2029.

Alongside its core plan to revitalize its catalogue with fresh franchise releases, Ubisoft is also looking to leverage AI to “enhance player experience.” Ubisoft has plans to develop its first “playable Generative AI experience.” Ubisoft says they are “accelerating investments behind Teammates, its first playable Generative AI experience, to enrich player experiences, while teams are making tangible progress organically on AI applications that can help manage the growing complexity of modern game development pipelines,” adding that they’re using these tools to enhance creativity.

All in all, the earnings call was a big wake-up call for the company, and they appear to be (mostly) going back to what built them into what they are today: games people want to play. The company recently confirmed the future of The Division franchise, and a new focus on live service titles like Rainbow Six Siege to also help fix their bottom line. The next title Ubisoft is set to release is Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced on July 9, and it’s widely regarded as one of Ubisoft’s most important releases.
