At the end of the Ubisoft Forward 2022 showcase, a surprise and first ever, Assassin’s Creed Showcase was announced in celebration of the series’ 15th anniversary.
Out of the shadows indeed, as the massive leaks earlier in the month have revealed the title and protagonist of the new title Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which not only elects to bring the storied Creed back to its roots of action adventure, assassination, and most notably narrative focus, but takes a step forward while doing it.
You are Basim Ibn Ishaq, 20 years before the events of Valhalla and start as a street urchin on the streets of Baghdad. Interesting characters like Basim’s mentor Roshan — played by Emmy Winning actor Shohreh Aghdashloo — will be featured prominently. Mirage will launch in 2023. The full cinematic trailer can be seen below.
The first ever Assassin’s Creed Showcase presented at Ubisoft Forward 2022 not only showed new announcements however, as the Creed has received massive acclaim over the years, with a celebratory live-action trailer showcasing the history the creed has covered to date. This includes cameos from fan-favourite assassins across the series.
Assassin’s Creed Showcase: Valhalla The Final Chapter
But, besides the leak confirmation, and celebrating former triumphs, there was still a lot of meat revealed by the Ubisoft team, including the announcement of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla‘s The Final Chapter, which aims to wrap up all the loose ends in the massive Norse-based epic. The brief teaser includes a protagonist stating “it is time to say goodbye.” The Final Chapter will launch as a free update at a TBD 2022 date.
Assassin’s Creed Showcase: The Future Of The Creed and Universe
A new very brief trailer was shown for ANOTHER Assassin’s Creed, set in Ancient China called ‘Codename Jade,’ for mobile with the ability to create your own assassin for the first time ever. The showrunner for the Ubisoft Forward 2022 announced Netflix Assassin’s Creed series was revealed as Jeb Stuart. A fully ‘wider world’ of the Creed was embraced with a podcast called “Echoes of History”, a new novel titled Assassin’s Creed: The Magus Conspiracy, and a webtoon based Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.
As has been begged for by fans for many years, Assassin’s Creed ‘Codename Red’ was VERY briefly teased and set in feudal Japan. This is the future of the open world RPG Creed titles, and Ubisoft Quebec will be taking the reins on the operation.
ANOTHER new Creed title was briefly mentioned being developed by Ubisoft Montreal with director Clint Hocking behind the scenes. The showcase then challenged fans with an Assassin’s Creed ‘Codename Hexe’ brief trailer, with a hook of ‘let’s see what fans can make of this one,’ also being teased.
Assassin’s Creed Project Infinity was talked about for a moment, and has been regarded briefly as ‘an entry point into the universe.’ A roadmap with EVERYTHING revealed in chronology can be seen below from the Assassin’s Creed Showcase.
