Razer Basilisk V3 Pro

Brutalist Review Style (Version 2)

Razer is back with the Razer Basilisk V3 Pro mouse, the newest in a line of mice that has long stood as one of the best peripherals for FPS players. Boasting a solid and comfortable build with a range of programmable buttons that are useful while never getting in the way, the Basilisk finds balance between the Naga and DeathAdder in the Razer mouse lineup. Razer is keeping this methodology for this year’s Razer Basilisk V3 Pro, with a range of customization, an industry-leading sensor, and a range of features that put it at the top of the pack for gamers that want it all.

Out of the box, the Razer Basilisk V3 Pro mouse has the same familiar style seen in past offerings. It has a comfortable shape that is great for late-night gaming sessions, a versatile scroll wheel, and 10+1 programmable buttons to make the device uniquely your own. While many of the Pro mice from Razer have cut the fat, taking out Bluetooth and chroma, the Basilisk V3 Pro keeps all of that, giving all the fancy lights and adaptability that comes with it.

Razer Basilisk V3 Pro Mouse Review 2

The Basilisk V3 Pro can be a wired gaming mouse with the included USB-C cable, or wireless by either Bluetooth or 2.4G Hyperspeed. It is one of the heavier gaming mice from Razer clocking in at around 112 grams, and features all the buttons you would expect from the Basilisk family of devices. I personally have always been a fan of the palm grip ergonomic shape that just feels right when jumping into one of the many shooters that are best played on PC.

Looking back to the versatility of the mouse, the Basilisk V3 Pro comes with the Razer Hyperscroll Tilt Wheel that not only lets you do all the standard scrolling modes, but can be adjusted to fit your style. While most scroll wheels are limited to either tactile mode or free-spin mode, the V3 Pro also comes with Smart-Reel mode, that once activated in Synapse 3, can adjust from tactile to free-spin when you scroll faster.

The Basilisk V3 Pro’s mouse wheel also allows for four clear directions. Much like most of the buttons on the mouse, these can be adjusted based on your needs, or the needs of the game or app you are using. While none of the scroll wheel settings are real game changers, they are great to see on this gamer-focused mouse, and ones I have thoroughly enjoyed over my time testing it. I am a sucker for the ability to customize every aspect of the mouse, and this is one more area that makes the Razer Basilisk V3 Pro mouse unique to me and my play style.

Synapse 3 also lets you dive in and customize all the buttons on the mouse to suit your needs. With 10 buttons and a profile button to play with, this is a mouse made to be adjusted. Being a lover of shooters, the range of buttons is perfect to focus on what I love, and I’m not stuck splitting my time between keyboard commands and mouse buttons.

From Call of Duty, Quake (yes I am that old), and Fortnite, this is a mouse made with first and third-person shooters in mind. The buttons are spaced enough to never get in the way, while close enough to be there when you need them. The Razer Basilisk V3 Pro mouse also has space for five profiles, letting you set the mouse up based on your needs and the needs of the games you play, with them all only a button push away.

“While many of the Pro range of mice have forgone Razer Chroma for 2022, the Basilisk V3 Pro mouse did not.”

Speaking of customization, while many of the Pro range of mice have forgone Razer Chroma for 2022, the Basilisk V3 Pro mouse did not. Boasting 13 unique zones to set up and adjust based on what you want to see, it is also designed to work with the close to 200 Chroma-integrated games such as Outriders, Apex Legends, Fortnite, and more, giving you lighting effects based on what is happening in the game, offering another level of immersion.

Razer Basilisk V3 Pro Mouse Review 5

Much like all the latest offerings from Razer in 2022, the Basilisk V3 Pro mouse features the new Focus Pro 30K Optical Sensor. I have talked about this sensor in both the Viper V2 Pro, and DeathAdder V3 Pro reviews, but it is just as exciting to see in its full 30,000dpi, 99.8 percent accuracy glory here. It is amazing to see how far mice have come over the past decade, both for gaming and work. This is a hard feature to give up when testing mice from other brands.

“…the Basilisk V3 Pro mouse also features all the newest tech we have come to expect from the gaming brand.”

As with all the 2022 range of gaming mice from Razer, the Basilisk V3 Pro mouse also features all the newest tech we have come to expect from the gaming brand. The mouse comes with the Gen-3 optical mouse switches, Razer Hyperspeed wireless, Bluetooth, and up to 90-hours of battery life. Razer has thrown everything they could at this mouse, making it a dream for gamers that demand only the best.

If that were not enough, the Basilisk V3 Pro also comes ready to be used with wireless charging. The bottom of the V3 Pro has space to use the wireless charging puck that comes with the Razer Mouse Dock Pro. This will let it take advantage of Qi charging should you not wish to plug the mouse in consistently to keep it ready for action.

The best part is, even if you are using the Basilisk V3 Pro mouse while on the go and don’t have your Razer doc handy, once you have the charging puck in the V3 Pro, any Qi-certified charger can give the mouse a top-up when needed. The Razer Mouse Dock also doubles as a HyperPolling 4K Hz transceiver, pushing the Razer Basilisk V3 Pro mouse to the next level of polling and accuracy.

Coming in at $159.99 for the Basilisk V3 Pro, and $69.99 for the Razer Mouse Dock Pro—they can be purchased in a bundle for $199.99—this is a mouse made for gamers that demand the top of the line. There are plenty of mice that provide most of the features on offer, but few reach the full spectrum on offer here. The Basilisk V3 Pro is a FPS lover’s dream: deliver everything you would want to rise above the competition.
