1666: Amsterdam has been revealed at Summer Game Fest, a new dark and brooding adventure.
1666: Amsterdam hit the Summer Game Fest stage with a brand new debut trailer. The new dark third-person story-led action-adventure game comes from Panache Digital Games, creators of Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey. The debut trailer is dark and creepy, with plenty of gothic imagery that runs chills down my spine already. The title is set to launch in Early Access in 2026, with consoles planned for a later date.
Alongside the announcement, Panache Digital Games also announced a prologue demo. The demo runs for about 30 minutes and introduces the world, characters, and core mystery at the heart of the title. It offers interesting hints at what’s to come, with beings with strange powers known as the Originals living amongst the people for centuries. The prologue follows Noa Brooklyn, born as the collector, raised by others for a purpose she did not choose. Noa’s Commencement is on hand as she becomes the Collector and starts to do the job she was born to do.
Noa isn’t alone though, as an early choice of companion will have lasting impact. Players will follow three timelines, one set in 1666, the other in 1999, and the final in present day, all working in tandem to reveal the truth at the heart of the story.
Creative Director at Panache Digital Games, Patrice Désilets, had this to say about the title: “It’s been a long time coming, and I couldn’t be prouder of our team of nearly 70 talented developers in Montreal. For the past six years, we’ve focused on one thing above all else: the game itself. No fake footage, no vertical slices, just a playable experience evolving build after build, day after day.
Today, we’re finally ready to invite players into that process. The free prologue available now on Steam and Epic Games Store is only a small taste of what’s to come, an amuse-bouche before a nine-course dinner, an introduction to the world, its characters, and its different time periods. We hope players will enjoy discovering it as much as we’ve enjoyed creating it.Merci and Panache Coliss!”
