During the annual D23 Expo, Disney held the very first Disney & Marvel Games Showcase.
As you might expect, there were plenty of announcements and updates the comany had to share, including our very first look at the new Marvel game from Skydance New Media, the studio founded by former Uncharted creative director Amy Hennig.
If you happened to miss the Disney and Marvel Games Showcase, we’ve compiled every announcement below, along with all the accompanying trailers.
Tron Identity Announced
Tron Identity is a brand new detective game set in the neon-infused universe. The game is being developed by Bithell Games, the studio known for titles like John Wick Hex, The Solitaire Conspiracy, and Subsurface Circular. Tron Identity is currently scheduled to release sometime in 2023.
Disney Illusion Island Announced
Disney Illusion Island is a brand new co-op platformer from D La La Studios, coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch in 2023. The game is seemingly done in a style similar to the Mickey Mouse animated show.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns New Trailer and Release Date
Marvel’s Midnight Suns got a brief new trailer, but the big news is the game finally getting a new release date. After being delayed last month, Midnight Suns will launch on December 2, 2022, for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Midnight Suns Prequel Shorts
Ahead of the release of Marvel’s Midnight Suns, a series of prequel shorts will be released that introduce the different playable characters. A teaser trailer was shown off that includes characters like Ghost Rider, Blade, Captain America, and more.
New Trailer For Marvel Snap
A trailer was shown off for the upcoming mobile card battler, Marvel Snap. Developed by former Hearthstone devs, the game will launch on October 18.
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Galactic Edition Announced

New character packs are coming to Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, including packs for Andor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Clone Wars. On top of that, the game is getting a Galactic Edition that releases this holiday, and includes a total of 19 characters packs: 13 older, and 6 new.
Gargoyles Remastered Announced

Following in the footsteps of The Lion King and Aladdin, Disney is remastering the classic Sega Genesis title Gargoyles, which was based off the animated series of the same name.
New Characters Coming to Disney Mirrorverse
The mobile title Disney Mirrorverse is getting an update this fall bringing a host of new villain characters to the game, including Oogie Boogie, Ursula, Hades, Maleficient, and Jarar.
New Trailer for Avatar Reckoning
A new trailer was shown off for Avatar Reckoning, an MMORPG set in the Avatar universe. The quick update trailer provides a look at the story setting and gameplay.
Captain America and Black Panther Game Announced
Although it still doesn’t have a name, the first trailer was shown off for Skydance’s Marvel game, and it does indeed star both Captain America and Black Panther. A cinematic trailer shows the game is set during World War II, and seemingly confirms that there will be four playable characters, and maybe even co-op.
Marvel World of Heroes Announced
The final game announced was Marvel World of Heroes, a new mobile title developed by Niantic, the studio behind Pokemon Go. Although the conceptual trailer doesn’t give out many details, it seems like World of Heroes will be an exploration-based experience along the lines of Pokémon Go.
The D23 Expo continues this weekend, with additional showcases to highlight upcoming projects from Disney, Lucasfilm, Marvel, and 20th Century Fox. Stay tuned to CGMagazine for more exciting coverage!
