Time To Squad Up Again

Helldivers 2 Latest Patch Increases Level Cap, Adds More Planetary Hazards and Balance Changes

Arrowhead, the developers behind the massively popular squad-based shooter Helldivers 2, has just released one of its bigger patches to the game to date.

Helldivers 2 Patch 1.000.200, which is out now on PlayStation 5 and PC, adds more planetary hazards and balance changes to weapons, missions, enemies, and Helldivers alongside the general bug fixes you see in every update.

In terms of gameplay, there are now two new planetary hazards that players will have to deal with: blizzards and sandstorms. Both of these hazards will slow down players’ movement across the environment as they trudge through the environment, fighting against the various Alien and Automaton threats.

Arrowhead has also introduced many buffs and nerfs in this patch. For buffs, our playable Helldivers’ heavy and medium armours now offer more protection against enemy attacks. Weapons such as the Anti-Materiel Rifle and Dominator were also buffed to do more damage. As for nerfs, the Slugger weapon got nerfed, while enemies, including the Charger, Bile Spewer, and Nursing Spewer, were also nerfed, so players will have an easier time dealing with them.

Stratagems, which are unique and powerful war materiel players can call upon during missions, also had some balance changes. For instance, the Patriot Exosuit’s rockets can now only penetrate armour on direct hit instead of through collateral damage. However, the negative effect of operation modifiers has been halved to compensate the nerfs to some of the Stratagems. This is overall a net positive for players as negative effects include an increase in cooldown time to Stratagems. Now, it will be halved, meaning players can use their Strategems much more quickly than before.

While not directly mentioned in the patch notes, the level cap of Helldivers 2 has increased from 50 to 150, which also includes more titles for players to collect as they level up. Bug fixes, such as softlocks, were also addressed in this update. Players in hellpods will now avoid dropping into unintended places to prevent them from soft-locking themselves in the middle of the game. The developers also promised to monitor and look into more bugs that will be addressed in the future.
