Kyoto Animation’s Next Film Will Release On Schedule

Kyoto Animation’s Next Film Will Release On Schedule 2

Kyoto Animation’s Violet Evergarden spinoff film will be screened and released as it was originally scheduled.

This news comes after the Kyoto Animation studio was burned down earlier this month, claiming the lives of at least 35. According to the Japanese publication Kai-You, their anime film Violet Evergarden Side-Story: Eternity and the Auto Memories Doll will be released as planned on September 6th for a three-week run in Japan.

The Hollywood Reporter states that the film was scheduled for an August 3rd premiere at Germany’s Animagic convention. According to the event’s organizers, the showing will commence as planned “at the express request of the studio.” Violet Evergarden was originally a light novel that debuted in 2015 and was published by Kyoto Animation. An anime series followed in 2018, and was widely praised for its art and animation.

There has been no word of a Western release for the film. Another new Kyoto Animation movie, Violet Evergarden the Movie, was previously announced for a January 10th release in Japanese cinemas, but given the damage caused by the fire it may be delayed indefinitely. Once again, our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those involved.
