Sméagol Will Swear On The Precious

A Big Lord of the Rings: Gollum Trailer Shows Players Middle Earth From A Unique Perspective

Back in 2019 Daedalic Entertainment announced their newest project, Lord of the Rings: Gollum to much surprise, and now a trailer has been revealed that shows Middle Earth like never seen before.

The Lord of the Rings series, originally penned by author J.R.R. Tolkien, is a tale of epic proportions that includes many high fantasy staples, but introduces them in a fresh, unique way that builds a world that’s fully fleshed out. These stories have been brought to life in two separate movie trilogies, and other popular video games that have shown the depth this world has to offer, and now fans can experience Middle Earth from a fresh, albeit deranged, way through the lens of Gollum.

Gollum is introduced to fans as a half-creature, former Hobbit named Sméagol, who blathers on about how important his ‘preciousss’ is, and how they will do anything to get it back after that dastardly Bilbo Baggins steals it in the events of The Hobbit. Interestingly enough, Gollum will embrace all the characteristics of the small creature, including how he has conflicting personalities, and players will be allowed to make decisions that appeal to either the creature Gollum or the Hobbit Sméagol during narrative segments.

Lord Of The Rings: Gollum Trailer Shows A New Side Of Middle Earth

As with any game based around LOTR, players can expect to explore lush settings such as the Mirkwood Forest, the Mines of Moria, and of course, the mountains of Mordor, on their quest as what could possibly be considered the most misunderstood character in LOTR fandom. Lord of the Rings: Gollum takes place during the events of the book/film Fellowship of the Ring, but through the eyes of a different protagonist.

Fans can expect to encounter other notable LotR characters throughout their journey, as some are prominently featured in the trailer. Those clamouring for a chance to get redemption for Gollum won’t have to wait much longer, as the precious title releases on September 1 for all platforms. Fans looking for more info can crawl over to the Daedalic Entertainment website for more details.
