After a week of teasing it, motorola just dropped a big announcement at Snapdragon Summit 2026: the motorola signature 27, its most advanced flagship yet. Thanks to Qualcomm, I was able to be on site for the announcement and learn more at the event.
Powered by Qualcomm’s brand-new Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, which was also announced at the keynote, the signature 27 is built for speed, on-device AI, and next-gen connectivity. Motorola says the new platform delivers performance that feels “fast, fluid, and reliable,” thanks to upgraded 5G, Wi‑Fi, and a six-antenna design that doubles download speeds.
The signature 27 introduces motorola’s new ArcticMesh system to keep everything cool — a mix of diamond‑infused thermal gel, liquid metal, copper mesh, and a redesigned vapour chamber that they boast is 40% larger than before. It’s built to handle heavy AI workloads, gaming, and long video sessions without issue.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a smartphone announcement in 2026 without AI. The motorola signature 27 offers Google Gemini for agentic experiences that go beyond simple prompts. Users can turn photos or footage into polished videos with Gemini Omni or generate custom music with Gemini Lyria.
Photography gets a major upgrade too. The signature 27 features a 50 MP Sony LYTIA 910 main sensor and a 200 MP periscope telephoto lens, backed by Motorola’s AI-powered Video Enhancement Engine and Qualcomm’s stabilization tech paired with 3.5° OIS. The goal from motorola is to create pro-level photos and cinematic video without needing pro-level effort:
“At the center of the experience is an advanced camera system, designed to deliver professional results in any setting. Among the highlights are the 50MP Sony LYTIA 910 main sensor, which captures images with exceptional clarity, rich colour, and deep contrast, and the 200MP periscope telephoto lens, which makes it easy to photograph distant details, beautiful architecture, and landscapes.”
Audio also gets a spotlight — this is Motorola’s first phone with Audio by B&O, thanks to a new multi‑year partnership with Bang & Olufsen. It was mentioned during the Snapdragon Summit 2026 keynote that they are the only smartphone device to offer this partnership.
On looks alone, the motorola signature 27 looks sleek thanks to premium materials a stylish design. It comes in two PANTONE-certified looks, Coal Smoke in Tactical Weave and Capulet Olive in a Feather‑inspired finish, each with its own texture and design.
Motorola says this is just a preview, with more details coming closer to launch. The motorola signature 27 is expected to hit global markets sometime in 2026. We can expect to see more smartphone announcements coming soon, now that the Snapdragon 8 Elite dual platform has been announced, including the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Pro Max, which were also announced at the keynote.
