According to a report by Deadline, actor Ray Liotta has passed away today.

The cause of death is unknown at this time, but Liotta is said to have passed away in his sleep in the Dominican Republic while filming Dangerous Waters. According to TMZ, “…there was nothing suspicious about the death, and no foul play is suspected”.

Perhaps best known for Goodfellas, the 1990s Martin Scorsese classic, Liotta had been working on a string of new projects. These include Black Bird, El Tonto and Cocaine Bear, which are complete or in post-production, and was also actively filming Dangerous Waters, The Substance and April 29, 1992 which also stars Tyrese Gibson and Scott Eastwood.

Some of his more recent work includes The Many Saints of Newark with Jon Bernthal, No Sudden Move with Don Cheadle and Benicio Del Toro, and Marriage Story with Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver. The actor’s past titles include other classics like Field of Dreams with Kevin Costner and James Earl Jones and Corrina Corrina with Whoopi Goldberg. Liotta even lent his voice to Grand Theft Auto: Vice City as Tommy Vercetti.

Although the news of Liotta’s passing is just beginning to break, the internet is already full of fond memories of the actor and well wishes for those Liotta leaves behind. Some notable names mentioning his passing are Piers Morgan, Devon Sawa, Rosanna Arquette and even Twitter pages like The Game Awards and the Fox Sports: MLB page. Many fans are also posting about the films they will be re-watching tonight in his honour this week.

Whether enough filming has been done to complete Dangerous Waters, April 29, 1992, or The Substance has not been confirmed at this time. Ray Liotta leaves behind his daughter, Karsen, and his fiancée, Jacy Nittolo.
