Roy Lee, the producer of Zach Cregger’s Weapons and the latest Resident Evil film, may have Silent Hill as his next destination.
It appears the producer responsible for helping bring Zach Cregger’s Weapons and Resident Evil to the big screen, Roy Lee, will apparently be taking on a Silent Hill adaptation next according to The Wall Street Journal. Lee, dubbed “the man behind the brands” in a new Wall Street Journal report, was tagged as actively working on an adaptation for the reborn horror franchise, which has seen a complete renaissance since the Silent Hill 2 Remake hit consoles.
The article — which details Roy Lee’s career — lists the Silent Hill franchise as one of the IPs he’s currently working on, alongside God of War and Battlefield. Silent Hill has a notably rocky past when it comes to anything regarding live action. In 2023, Silent Hill: Ascension dropped, and nearly every fan of the series did not like the offering. Not only that, the social-experiment aspect (where fans would be able to vote on what happens next) didn’t work as intended, leaving fans out in the cold. In 2026, The Return to Silent Hill launched, and it was universally panned by critics and fans alike on Metacritic.
With such a disastrous history in live-action offerings, it appears the franchise may be attempting to right the ship with the same producer that brought Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil to box office success. Resident Evil also notoriously had a misalignment with fans when the franchise forayed into live-action, ditching the cast and atmosphere that made the game’s character roster popular in favour of the newly introduced Alice (played by Milla Jovovich) and action as the focus. Jovovich herself said to PEOPLE, “I think it’s about time that Resident Evil got remade the right way,” although she credits the franchise for her career.
With Resident Evil in the rearview mirror, it appears Roy Lee will be taking his next film production to Silent Hill. With nearly no information about the potential film released, fans should take the announcement with a grain of salt until an official announcement is made.
