Superhot, Ori and the Blind Forest, And More Revealed During Nintendo's Indie World Showcase 3

Nintendo hosted another Indie World Showcase on August 19th, bringing with it plenty of new games, surprise launches, and a lot of release dates. Judging from the 20-minute stream, Switch owners will have a lot to look forward to in the coming months.

Without further ado, here is every announcement made during Nintendo’s Indie World Showcase:

Risk of Rain 2

First on the docket on the stream was Hopoo Games Risk of Rain 2. Already out on PC in Early Access, Risk of Rain 2 is a roguelike where up to four people can fight alongside you through the randomized landscape. The developers have said that it will be in Early Access for at least a year, so expect to play Risk of Rain 2 on your Switch sometime in 2020.

Eastward

Chucklefish’s newest game is described as a heartwarming post-apocalyptic adventure. In Eastward, you play as a survivor who finds a mysterious girl in an underground facility, who you then go on a journey with through the weird and gorgeous world. Judging by the trailer, there will be plenty of strange sights to see and monsters to defeat. Eastward will launch on the Switch in 2020.

Freedom Finger

Freedom Fingers is a game where you play as a giant hand flying through space that can grab enemies and use them as weapons. So yeah, this is a little weird. It’s also stars Nolan North, Joe DiMaggio, Eric Bauza, and Sam Riegel, so expect the story to be filled with ham. That said, it does look fun because of how ridiculous it is, and it’ll be available to play sometime later this Fall.

Röki

Röki is an adventure game where you must befriend animals in what looks to be a snowy forest. Not much was shown apart from a brief trailer, but we’ll likely find out more information about this fairytale adventure before it launches this Winter.

Torchlight 2

Courtesy of Panic Button, Runic Games’ Torchlight 2 is coming to the Switch sometime in the future. If you’re in the mood for a solid hack’n’slash dungeon crawler to play on the go, Torchlight 2 is pretty good, especially if you have friends you can play with. It’s also coming out very soon; September 3rd, in fact.

Skater XL

Conspicuously missing from Nintendo’s newest console is a skateboarding game. Admittedly, you can say that about any modern console, but for those looking to grind some rails and perform endless tricks on a half pipe, Skater XL might sate your appetite. It’s already out on Early Access on Steam, and it’s expected to release in full in 2020.

Youropa

Youropa is a gravity-based platformer where you are tasked with rebuilding the world, which has been flung into the sky and broken into the pieces, into whatever form you like. The trailer showcased mind-bending platforming, puzzles that need to be solved, enemies that need to be defeated, and the ability to paint and plant objects wherever you desire. Youropa comes to the Switch this Winter.

Superhot

The popular independent first-person shooter Superhot finally comes to the Switch. And it’s coming a lot sooner than you’d think; Superhot launches on the Switch today.

Dungeon Defenders: Awakened

The latest installment in Trendy Entertainments Dungeon Defenders series will be a timed exclusive on the Switch when it launches in February 2020. Expect much of the same gameplay that has defined Dungeon Defenders in the past. Namely, defending a lot of dungeons with friends and strangers by building a lot of towers.

The Touryst

Don’t you hate it when you go on vacation, only to discover that the ancient ruins you’re exploring are teeming with guardians to defeat and puzzles to solve? No? Well, you can experience what that’s like in The Touryst, which has no relation to the Johnny Depp film with a similar name, when it launches on the Switch in November 2019.

Skellboy

Sometimes, when evil threatens the kingdom, dead heroes have to come back to life and equip the body parts of enemies in order to get the job done. Skellboy is an action-RPG where you play as Skeppy, an undead hero who does just that in order to defeat an evil wizard who got dumped by his crush. Judging from both the description and the trailer’s rather catchy song, Skellboy looks to be a fun time when it comes to the Switch on December 3rd.

EarthNight

EarthNight is an illustrated, procedurally generated platformer where you must skydive from space back to the Earth, defeating a horde of dragons who have conquered the world along the way. It looks beautiful, and its fast-paced platforming will be right at home on the Switch when it releases later this year.

Hotline Miami Collection

I didn’t realize that neither Hotline Miami game was on the Switch before today, which feels like the perfect console for the series in retrospect. Hotline Miami Collection comes bundled with both games in the ultra-violent neo-noir action series, and is available for purchase today.

Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition

The last announcement of the Indie World Showcase was a special one. Former Microsoft exclusive Ori and the Blind Forest is coming to Nintendo’s console next month. The platformer was critically acclaimed thanks to its environmental design, soundtrack, art style, and gameplay, and it should be right at home on the Switch. It will launch on September 27th.
