Ubisoft Forward Delivers on Fan Requests in Third Livestream

Ubisoft’s Forward E3-style showcase is back for a third episode, but adds a twist in delivering some welcome news to fans itching for a remaster of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and franchise return through Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, originally released in 2003. The stream also added some new updates for Watch Dogs Legion

Starting with a trailer for fantasy action game Immortals Fenix Rising, the sizzle showed off a vast animated world filled with monsters and and landmarks from Greek mythology. Players become a warrior imbued with the powers of gods, as they protect the realm from evil. Some of the abilities include Daedalus Wings which enable you to soar across the world. This helps players on their quest, as Fenix who is given a mission from Hermes to help Zeus save Greece from an otherworldly force. Fenix is also customizable in an RPG fashion, under a narrative which doesn’t take itself too seriously with its blend of cel-shading and over the top effects. The game’s open world is also divided into god-specific regions, including Hephaestus’ mechanical settlements and Aphrodite’s lush, green utopia. Immortals Fenyx Rising releases on December 3, 2020 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. There is also a special demo coming for the Stadia version, exclusive to subscribers worldwide ahead of launch.

Ubisoft has also announced the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, giving the original 2003 adventure game a much-needed makeover. The classic story is retold with brand new cutscenes and dialogue, while its level design will be expanded for a bigger experience. The gameplay will also be tweaked for time-bending combat, where players can re-harness the Sands of Time to go forwards and backwards. Yuri Lowenthal is also returning to voice the Prince as he did 17 years back, while it drives the remake’s interactions with new and familiar NPCs. Motion capture is also added for a natural-looking parkour system and in-game animations for combat. Controls including a targeting system concentrate on one-on-one fights across dunes and royal temples. Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake releases on January 21, 2021.

A live-action trailer “for the fans” introduced the Rainbow Six Siege World Cup, bringing the search-and-destroy based shooter into an eSports setting with Ubisoft’s direct support. Teams would be made of coaches and players worldwide, qualifying into a fixed bracket that leads into the playoffs and championships. This would also be representative of each participating country, while Ubisoft teased a massive, live event taking place on Summer 2021. Tying into the tournament is Rainbow Six Siege‘s updates, with developers “doubling-down” with a new season and Sam Fisher as an operator. A cartoon trailer showcased the character’s return in Tom Clancy’s universe, breaching a hostile area with local police. He also comes with new weapons and tactical gadgets, including his signature NVG goggles and a sticky cam which adds an extra visual for walls. As part of Operation Shadow Legacy, the new season comes in an update shortly this week. Ubisoft also confirmed Rainbow Six Siege will reach the next-generation PS5 and Xbox Series X systems with 120 fps and graphical upgrades for free.

Scott Pilgrim is coming back in a remastered version for current-gen systems, bringing Ubisoft’s pixelated beat-em-up back with cleaner visuals and additional content based on the movie. This was also a highly-requested game from fans, with director Edgar Wright also vouching for a re-release. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Remastered launches again on Holiday 2020.

Ubisoft’s anticipated Watch Dogs Legion showcased characters players can control in the open world, including a stunt driver-turned hacker who can outmaneuver pursuing vehicles better than others. Another character can sneak into bases, with an added perk of shooting electric shocks to short out enemies and equipment instantly for quicker passage. A beekeeper can send swarms of nano bugs to distract enemies and create clouds of destruction. Players can also add specialties for each character and change their nature. Gadgets including the spider bot, drone and special vehicles can also be added as perks to suit any play style on top of a character’s ultimate ability. A surprise reveal trailer brings Aiden Pearce back into the fight, and players can expect to see him as a playable hero with his own story content in the season’s pass. Ubisoft confirmed it will also add a standalone campaign, following an older and jaded Pearce in London.

A trailer for Rider’s Republic mixes Fall Guys with extreme sports, with players racing on land, sea or air with dozens of others. They will also dodge and drift through different types of extreme sport races across long terrains. Players can also race alongside their friends across highly-rendered natural places, with the first season taking place in U.S. geography. The locations will also be the grounds for BMX bikes, snowboards, wing suits, dirt bikes and ATVs. Outside of the massive races, players can also use different vehicles in the same race and create records for themselves or the leaderboards. Ubisoft’s racing game even includes different modes for stunts on developer-generated tightropes, giant ramps and the half-pipe. There are also single player obstacle courses for players to weave past without falling. At Yosemite Valley, players can roam in an open map and explore peaceful neighborhoods on the way to the finish line. Daily challenges and contests will encourage players to finish progressively touch courses, or in pulling off the ultimate trick for points. Rider’s Republic comes out on February 25, 2021.
