Razer has long been known for making products specifically for gamers. Audio hardware has been part of their arsenal for some time now. Their expansion into earphones was big news, not just for gamers, but for all users. Now they introduce their new and improved Hammerhead True Wireless earphones.
So what have they improved over the 2019 models? RGB customisation, active noise cancellation, access to Google Fast Pair, Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity (the older earbuds were Bluetooth 5.0), and a full in-ear design where their predecessors were half in-ear models. Battery life has also been significantly increased from 16 to 32.5 hours.
The earphones are packed with customisation options and key features. Using the Chroma RGB app, available for Android and iOS, you can change the colour and lighting style to match your personal preferences or your brand if you wear them professionally.
The LED lights can be changed to any number of colours and can be displayed in different patterns; Audio Meter, where the light reacts to audio, Breathing, where the lights pulsate, Spectrum, where the lights cycle through colours and a static colour. Brightness can also be controlled
The Razer Audio App gives you full control over the Razer Hammerhead True Wireless as well as any Bluetooth-enabled audio device. Within the app, you can adjust EQ, switch between headset features, customise your own commands and download firmware updates. Together, these two apps make the Razer Hammerhead True Wireless a formidable upgrade for your listening pleasure.
The earbuds contain several useful features. The Feedforward Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) will help nullify any ambient noises to ensure a better sound experience. The two Environmental Noise Cancelling (ENC) microphones help improve communication on both sides of a call, cancelling sounds other than your voice.
For the gamer, a low latency mode is available, allowing the player to hear their game with 60ms of latency, allowing for a better overall experience over Bluetooth.

Setup was the easiest I have ever experienced with a Bluetooth audio device. All I had to do was open the case and Google did the rest. I was connected to my earphones in less than ten seconds. As a person with big fingers, I did find getting the earbuds out of the case a bit of a challenge, but nothing that couldn’t be overcome.
The Razer Hammerhead True Wireless Earbuds were extremely comfortable. The in-ear design stayed in place with no fear of them falling out. I jumped and flailed around without the earbuds moving an inch. They can easily withstand a long walk or run, a day’s work from home or a plane trip without needing to be removed.
The use of the applications were very user-friendly. Connecting the earbuds to the apps was quick and easy and the functionality of the apps was simple. There is no need to fumble around to find what you are looking for. The Razer Audio App can even connect you directly to the Chroma RGB App.

The customization options give you an opportunity that no true wireless earbuds can. Customizing your colour to match your style, changing the EQ to adapt to your specific needs and remapping the buttons to allow you to control the device to your satisfaction made for a really pleasant experience.

Maybe a more seasoned gamer playing a shooter could hear the slightest difference, but I think even to them, it would be perfectly acceptable. It is as good as one could hope from a Bluetooth device and, for the casual gamer, it would never be noticeable.
The sound quality coming out of the earbuds was crystal clear. Enabling the ANC let me fully immerse myself in a video or game and phone calls/conferencing was ideal. I could sit next to my air conditioner without people on the other end hearing the hum.
At $129.99 USD, the earbuds are a leap in price from its preceding model of Razer Hammerhead True Wireless, but they still come in considerably cheaper than most of the big players, like the Apple AirPods, Beats By Dre, Samsung, etc. The sound and functionality of the Razer earbuds make them well worth the money.
