Big Game of Thrones Sequel Series Based On Jon Snow Reportedly In Development At HBO 3

It has been over three years since Game of Thrones fans have seen Kit Harington’s Jon Snow on screen for the negatively received HBO finale, but today fans might have a sequel to look forward to. (SPOILER WARNING for those who haven’t seen the original series.)

Not to be confused with the already trailer-laden and release date confirmed prequel series, The House of the Dragon, nor the Telltale Games video game adaptation of the series, there’s a new story on the horizon apparently in development at HBO, one that may see the Game of Thrones series spend more time in an unfamiliar land with a very familiar face.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, HBO is in talks about resurrecting the series in the form of a sequel, and although the original series titled Game of Thrones made fans afraid to become attached to onscreen characters with their lack of plot armour and constant deaths, there were still many protagonists left at the conclusion that had VERY open endings.

Jon Snow was surprised to discover at the end of the series that he was indeed a true-blooded Targaryen, a secret held from the beginning of the series that had fans clamouring over what his true parentage could be, one of the bigger mysteries in Westeros. Jon Snow was last seen exiled from the seven kingdoms due to his regicidal actions on the late Daenerys Targaryen in the Red Keep, a very open ending.

The other Stark’s were also given less conclusive endings, Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright) is last seen as the king of an uncertain Westeros, Arya (Maisie Williams) is seen sailing in a dire wolf sigil branded ship attempting to answer the question ‘what is west of Westeros?’ Sansa (Sophie Turner) is seen as the leader of a newly emancipated Winterfell, and fan-favourite character Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) was punished for his deeds throughout Game of Thrones by being written out of history.

Despite the poorly received ending to the base series, Game of Thrones seems to still have a lot of gas left in the tank for fans anticipating more storylines in the George R.R. Martin-created world. This news has yet to be formally confirmed to be going forward, so fans will also have to wait and see if HBO picks up this new series.
