How to Watch Fortnite Soundwave Series Concert, Spy x Family’s Gen Hoshino

Here is a guide on how to catch Fortnite’s latest Soundwave Series music artist who will be Gen Hoshino, best known for his song in the hit anime, Spy x Family.

For all the anime and Fortnite fans out there, Fortnite announced the upcoming music artist (and music producer) performing live, as part of their Soundwave Series, would be Spy x Family’s Gen Hoshino. Like many of the other artists that performed prior, all players around the world can celebrate by watching the show, experiencing the bombastic artistry tailored to Hoshino’s performance and players will have the opportunity to use a concert-exclusive emote.

Fans of Spy x Family would know Hoshino’s smooth voice from his closing theme for the show, “Kigeki” (“Comedy”), which has now surpassed 6.5 million views on YouTube. Additionally, his song “Koi” was the single that was a big bop in Japan, so the interactive concert will be featuring the Koi track as well and players can activate the Koi Dance Emote to virtually dance along (emote is only available while in the experience).

Players will be able to watch the show via Picture-in-Picture while they play other Creative experiences, Battle Royale and other game modes. The scenery will be ever-changing with a mashup of colours and various activities to match the ambience of the concert. The performance and integration in-game were designed by the 3D Lab team. So, how do Fortnite players watch the show?

When players sign in, they should be able to enter the Soundwave Series: Gen Hoshino Discover tile or they could input the Island code: 6831-7094-7130. The show will premiere on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at 8 AM ET and will loop on repeat for 72 hours of non-stop concert goodness. This means that on Sunday, June 12, at 8 AM ET, the Gen Hoshino experience will be gone! After players finish their experience, they will be rewarded with some XP and the Soundwave Series – Gen Hoshino Spray.

While this may not mean Fortnite players could play as the Forger family from the anime series, this event invites players to vibe and share in a moment of love for the show within a game they enjoy. And what better timing as Chapter 3 Season 3 would have launched a few days prior on June 5. The next artist to perform the finale of the Soundwave Series was announced to be record-breaking French-Malian singer, Aya Nakamura — no announcement for this event had been confirmed yet.

The Soundwave Series has already highlighted so many great emerging artists such as Egyptian superstar, Mohamed Hamaki, Australian singer-songwriter Tones And I and Brazilian rapper, Emicida. Of course, this series of in-game performances was spurred by the popularity of the Astronomical and Rift Tour concerts that Travis Scott and Ariana Grande headlined.
