Star Wars Celebration Kicks Off With A Big Bang, Including Andor & Mandalorian Season 3 2

The Star Wars Celebration blasted off yesterday with some exciting announcements and guests that would make any Star Wars fan blush, including confirmation of a returning series.

The previously announced event has now launched, and if the first day is any indication, the force is definitely strong with the Star Wars Celebration for 2022.

With a strong lineup of original programming such as The Mandalorian, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and The Book of Boba Fett, the Lucasfilm brand has proven they’re willing to dig deep in order to keep fans returning to the galaxy far, far away.

The series is titled after the main protagonist of Rogue One, and set five years prior to the events of that film, Diego Luna returns to fill the shoes of Rebel fighter Cassian Andor, and this series takes a look into what events transpired to lead him to the rebel cause. Although Disney only gave a very brief look at the series, there is plenty to be excited about with fan-favourite characters returning to the small screen. Star Wars: Andor has a release date TBD so far.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

A small series helmed by the director of Spider-man: No Way Home, Jon Watts, and with screenwriter Christopher Ford brought Jude Law on board to play the lead role in their newest project. While the show seems focused around 10-year-old kids on an adventure in the Star Wars universe, Watts claims the series will offer a “different perspective on the Star Wars universe,” and the series necessarily be for children, perhaps a similar route to Netflix’s Stranger Things. Skeleton Crew is set to air sometime in 2023.

On top of these brand-new announcements, Star Wars Celebration revealed The Mandalorian has a third season, and will be making its way to Disney+, which will continue the adventures of Din Djarin and ‘Baby Yoda’, Grogu. Ahsoka was briefly mentioned as well, and while no new information was given regarding the Rosario Dawson Centre series, it was confirmed to launch in 2023 as well.

The event also showcased an interview (which can be watched on YouTube) with Obi-Wan Kenobi himself, Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen, which was met by a very excited crowd. At the conclusion of the interview, Christensen promised fans “this is where the fun begins,” echoing his portrayal of Anakin Skywalker in Revenge of the Sith. Exciting stuff.

While the Star Wars Celebration of 2022 remains in full swing, fans are sure to receive many more exciting developments. Fans who want to stay up to date on all the news can follow the official Star Wars Twitter account for the latest news.
