Every year, gaming’s greatest offerings are put on display and celebrated, with a crown being given for Game of the Year. For 2023, The Game Awards now has an official start date for its 10th-anniversary celebration.

The Game Awards has evolved into an annual celebration of everything gaming, with the year’s best releases being thrown on a stage for the gaming world to admire. One title will even leave the event crowned as 2023’s Game of the Year. In 2022, there was a neck-and-neck race between Elden Ring and God of War Ragnarök, vying for first place. This year, The celebration has been officially scheduled for December 7, and like last year, the event will stream live from the Peacock Theatre (formally the Microsoft Theatre).

This year, The Game Awards will stream for free across more than 30 platforms, so fans of any platform can watch the event live from wherever they choose. The announced platforms so far are Twitch, X (formerly Twitter), Steam, YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, and more to come. The event seeks to break its 103 million live streams from last year, which was the largest in The Game Awards’ history since its inception in 2014.

Creator and Executive Producer of The Game Awards, Geoff Keighley, said “Each year, we look forward to hosting a show that honours the stand-out games of the year while also announcing and previewing some of the world’s biggest and most anticipated video games,” with “the industry continues to expand in many surprising ways, and we can’t wait to honour the year’s best games and to show viewers around the world what’s next” regarding the upcoming event.

While tickets for the public to attend will be made available sometime in the fall, it’s a good idea for those who do want to attend to follow the official Geoff Keighley X account to stay up to date on everything The Game Awards 2023 related.
