The Last of Us Part II Finally Gets A PS5 Upgrade

The Last of Us Part II has now been given a performance patch for PS5, just ahead of a massive sale hitting the PlayStation Store next week.

Right at the end of the PlayStation 4’s time, Naughty Dog released one of the most seminal games ever to hit the platform, The Last of Us Part II. Since then, fans of the series now armed with a PS5 have been wondering when they’ll be able to enjoy a version of Naughty Dog’s magnum opus that takes advantage of the new console. That day seems to have arrived, with a new patch released today for players to download that now allows for a 60fps graphics option.

Patch 1.08 is available now to download, and once installed you’ll be able to toggle from a 30fps option to the new 60fps option. The announcement came from PlayStation’s Official Blog, which also implied there would be more updates to the game potentially coming soon. Right now, the only new display option is the framerate toggle, but interestingly there was no mention whether the resolution target would change along with the framerate. The post simply read the new framerate options would “complement the rest of the enhancements that are part of the PS5 backward compatibility with PS4 games, such as an enhanced resolution, faster load times, and more.”

This new update seems to be well-timed, as there is also a massive sale starting next week for the PlayStation Store which will see the first markdowns of PS5 games such as Demon’s Souls, Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales: Ultimate Edition, and Sackboy: A Big Adventure. The sale is part of Sony’s Days of Play campaign, which will also include sales on other first party titles such as The Last of Us Part II, Ghost of Tsushima and more. It’s also worth noting that Ghost of Tsushima has already received a patch for PS5, so if you’ve yet to jump into Jin Sakai’s adventure, starting next week could be the perfect chance.

The Days of Play campaign will also include plenty of other player focused events, and you can watch the trailer for it all here.
