The Witcher 3 Mod Editor Lets Fans Rewrite The Story

The Witcher 3 has been one of the biggest releases in the past decade, and CD PROJEKT RED has officially announced a mod editor that will allow fans to continue the journey.

PC gamers who have played The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt have probably come into contact with a torrent of extra content in the form of community-created mods. While CD PROJEKT RED hasn’t taken action to stop the community from continuing the adventure, they have announced that an official mod editor is in development with their in-house team and is due out at a TBD date in 2024. The official post comes from their official X (formerly Twitter) account, and it can be seen below.

The caveat here is, like the modding community, The Witcher 3 official mod editor will be openly available and completely FREE for users. The mod editor “will allow you to create your own experiences in the game by making something completely new or editing existing quests and content” freely. This may open a brand new playground for players who have finished everything the game has to offer, or the mod editor may even allow fans to view questlines from a different viewpoint.

Big The Witcher 3 Mod Editor Announced By Cd Projekt Red &Amp; Will Allow Quest Creation

While The Witcher 3 mod editor has not given much details (especially regarding its limitations), CD PROJEKT RED allows fans to edit existing quests and content, which may allow fans to walk a different path for Geralt of Rivia during certain sidequests and story-driven elements. This is a very different approach to fan interaction than what has happened in the past, with fans disliking certain narrative components.

Back in 2012, Bioware’s Mass Effect 3 launched to intense fan backlash on the trilogy’s ending, to which they’ve openly apologized and adjusted the ending sequence to suit fan demands. CD PROJEKT RED could allow The Witcher 3 fans to control the narrative themselves, a unique approach. CD PROJEKT RED’s official mod editor launches for The Witcher 3 in 2024, and fans can explore other mods from the community by heading over to Nexus Mods for fun creation viewing in the meantime.
