Rick and Morty Season 2

Brutalist Review Style (Version 2)

Man, where do I even start with Rick and Morty Season 2? This show just keeps getting better and better. The writing is so sharp and clever – I find myself laughing out loud constantly, even after multiple viewings.

For those who don’t know, Rick and Morty follows the adventures of mad scientist Rick Sanchez and his nervous grandson Morty as they travel to different dimensions and planets. Rick is a reckless alcoholic who drags Morty along on all kinds of crazy escapades.

The first season was fantastic, but Season 2 really takes things to the next level. The premiere episode, A Rickle in Time, where Rick breaks the space-time continuum, is an instant classic. Seeing multiple timelines unfolding simultaneously on screen was genius – only this show could pull off such a zany concept so brilliantly.

And the pop culture references and parodies are non-stop. We’ve got everything from The Purge to Inception to Fantastic Voyage getting the Rick and Morty treatment. No sci-fi franchise is safe from being skewered by the show’s razor-sharp satire.

But beneath all the craziness, Rick and Morty has a lot of heart. We see the characters develop in meaningful ways over the course of the season. Morty becomes more assertive and learns how to stand up to Rick. And Rick shows he really does care about his family, even if he has an unconventional way of showing it.

The supporting characters also get more time to shine in Rick and Morty Season 2. We learn more about Birdperson’s backstory, and Jerry and Beth actually get to go on some wild adventures for a change. But Summer is the real standout – she practically becomes the third member of the Sanchez/Smith team.

Now, I do have to mention a couple of episodes that fell a bit flat for me. Get Schwifty felt like a rehash of earlier concepts, with the whole intergalactic American Idol thing not really hitting the mark. And Interdimensional Cable 2 couldn’t quite live up to the magic of the first one.

But really, even the weaker episodes of Rick and Morty are still way better than most other shows. When you have an animated series firing on all cylinders like this one, you just have to sit back and enjoy the insanity.

Even in the less stellar episodes, there are still plenty of amazing moments. The improv alien commercials in Interdimensional Cable 2 are hilarious. And Get Schwifty has some great scenes, like the giant heads judging the musical competition.

Rick And Morty Season 2 Review

I could go on and on, but the bottom line: If you’re not watching Rick and Morty yet, you need to fix that immediately. This is easily one of the smartest, funniest shows on TV right now. Season 2 takes everything that made the first season great and amplifies it.

The showrunners have crafted such an expansive universe with endless potential for comedy and mind-bending sci-fi concepts. I can’t wait to see what madness they come up with next. This is a show that isn’t afraid to go anywhere and do anything – the possibilities are endless.

After watching Rick and Morty Season 2, I can’t help but recommend it. It’s a must-watch for any fan of sharp comedy, great characters, and truly mind-bending sci-fi. Don’t miss out on this brilliantly bizarre piece of television. Wubba lubba dub dub!
