All The Video Game Release Dates For 2020

2020 features the launch of new consoles from Sony and Microsoft, new installments from such franchises as Doom, Half-Life, Resident Evil, and Yakuza, and plenty of original games from creators both new and old.

To help you keep track of all of the video game releases this year, we’ve compiled a list of the biggest release dates this year that we will keep updated as new information arises. The following list of 2020 video game release dates is organized by month, with games without release dates following.

January Release Dates

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne (PC) – January 9

Four months after Iceborne launched on console, Monster Hunter World‘s expansion lands on PC with a new area to explore and plenty of new monsters to hunt.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon (PS4) – January 16 (Japan)

The eighth main entry in the Yakuza franchise trades beat ’em up mechanics for turn-based RPG battles in what is a soft reboot. While launching in Japan in January, Like a Dragon will launch worldwide later in the year.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore (Switch) – January 17

Another Wii U release comes to the Switch, as the Shin Megami Tensei and Fire Emblem RPG makes the journey to the Nintendo Switch this month.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot (PC, PS4, Xbox) – January 17

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot recounts the story of Dragon Ball Z as you play as Goku in this action RPG that features iconic moments from the series, including the battles with Frieza, Cell, and more.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered (PS4, Switch, iOS, Android) – January 23

Originally set for release in 2019, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered will launch on January 23rd with cross-platform play and online multiplayer included.

Journey to the Savage Planet (PC, PS4, Xbox) – January 28

Journey to the Savage Planet is the first game from Canadian developer Typhoon Studios, and is a space exploration game that is far more lighthearted and comedic than its title lets on.

Warcraft III: Reforged (PC) – January 28

Blizzard’s much anticipated remaster of its classic real-time strategy game finally launches on January 28.

February Release Dates

Zombie Army 4: Dead War (PC, PS4, Xbox) – February 4

The latest Sniper Elite spin-off tasks you with stopping Hitler’s undead hordes as they swamp Southern Europe with up to four other players.

Granblue Fantasy Versus (PS4) -February 6 (Japan)

Arc System Works‘ newest fighting game hits Japan first, but will launch elsewhere later in the year. Expect their trademark visuals and well-honed mechanics to be on full display in the Granblue universe.

Yakuza 5 (PS4) – February 11

With the launch of the penultimate game in Kazuma Kiryu’s story, the entire franchise will be playable on the PS4.

Darksiders Genesis (PS4, Switch, Xbox) – February 14

Released on the PC last December, the newest Darksiders game will release on consoles in February.

Dreams (PS4) – February 14

After nearly ten months in early access, LittleBigPlanet and Tearaway developer Media Molecule‘s latest game creation system hits the PlayStation 4 on Valentine’s Day.

Street Fighter V: Champion Edition (PC, PS4) – February 14

Capcom plans for Street Fighter V: Champion Edition to be the last major update for Street Fighter V, and will include one new DLC character alongside every previously released character, stage, and costume.

Iron Man VR (PSVR) – February 28

Pretend you’re Robert Downey Jr. in the biggest PlayStation VR release announced for 2020 so far.

March Release Dates

Final Fantasy VII Remake (PS4) – March 3

The first game of the long-anticipated Final Fantasy VII Remake finally launches in March, though we won’t believe it till in it’s in our hands.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps (PC, Xbox) – March 11

The sequel to Moon Studios’ exceptional Metroidvania game Ori and the Blind Forest, Ori and the Will of the Wisps features a new upgrade system alongside new gameplay elements while retaining its predecessor’s gorgeous art style.

Nioh 2 (PS4) – March 13

Team Ninja’s prequel to 2017’s Nioh features a customizable player character, new yokai spirit abilities, and a three-player co-op multiplayer mode to help players tackle new challenges.

Fairy Tail (PC, PS4, Switch)March 19

Hiro Mashima’s long-running shonen series is getting the video game treatment in this turn-based RPG.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons (Switch) – March 20

Take a trip to a deserted island with friends courtesy of Tom Nook, who is probably going to send you into debt thanks to another scheme of his.

Doom Eternal (PC, PS4, Xbox, Stadia) – March 20

Originally set for release in 2019, id Software’s sequel to the 2016 Doom reboot is set to bigger and bolder thanks to new weapons and revamped multiplayer modes.

Bleeding Edge (PC, XBOX) – March 24

Ninja Theory’s multiplayer melee brawler combines third-person action with a roster of heroes, each with their own abilities and personalities.

Persona 5: Royal (PS4) – March 31

The enhanced edition of Person 5 features a new party member, a new dungeon, new music, and a new semester for school.

Half-Life: Alyx (PC) – March 2020

Valve’s next Half-Life game is not what many were expecting after a 13 year hiatus. But Valve is touting Half-Life: Alyx as their flagship VR game, and we can’t wait to see how it turns out.

April Release Dates

Resident Evil 3 (PC, PS4, Xbox) – April 3

The success of the Resident Evil 2 Remake puts Resident Evil 3 high up on our list of the most anticipated games of 2020. The inclusion of an asymmetrical online multiplayer mode, Resident Evil: Resistance, only sweetens the deal.

Cyberpunk 2077 (PC, PS4, Xbox, Stadia) – April 16

Predator: Hunting Grounds (PC, PS4) – April 24

Friday the 13th developer Illfonic is tackling another film property with this co-op multiplayer game that sees a squad of soldiers taking on one vicious alien predator.

Gears Tactics (PC, Xbox) – April 28

This XCOM inspired spin-off set in the Gears of War universe may just sate the appetite of players looking for a more tactical strategy game in 2020.

May Release Dates

Fast & Furious Crossroads (PC, PS4, Xbox) – May 9

Fast & Furious Crossroads hits store shelves a few weeks before Fast & Furious 9 hits theatres. Hopefully, it’ll retain the charm and action that has made Fast & Furious as popular as it has been.

Marvel’s Avengers (PC, PS4, Xbox, Stadia) – May 15

Square Enix’s Avengers game lets you play as Earth’s mightiest heroes across single-player and multiplayer in this action RPG.

Wasteland 3 (PC, PS4, Xbox) – May 19

inXile Entertainment’s follow-up to Wasteland 2 has long been in the works, but its acquisition by Microsoft has meant that more staff have been assigned to polish it up in time for its May release.

Maneater (PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox) – May 22

The Last of Us Part II (PS4) – May 29

The Last of Us Part II follows Ellie five years after the events of The Last of Us as she fights a mysterious cult. Both Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson reprise their roles in what will be one of the last major first-party releases for the PlayStation 4.

June Release Dates
