The winter is bringing new anime to stream in 2023, and anime lists have been circulating the internet. CGMagazine has chosen some of our most anticipated anime shows you do not want to miss.

As the holiday season comes to an end and the new year begins, there are much bigger things to look forward to in the near future. Crunchyroll, HiDive and Netflix have been at the top of their anime streaming game. Now, they have all released their upcoming winter 2023 anime lists for some of the most exciting shows to watch. Here is our list of Anime to Stream in 2023: Winter Releases.

Anime Returning to Streaming Services

In/Spectre Season 2 (Crunchyroll)

Winter 2023 Anime Guide To Keep You Warm 2

In/Spectre has been a personal favourite of mine with its interesting blend of a crime procedural-esque meets supernatural spin. There has been so much mystery behind Kotoko and Kuro that I am very curious to see which mysteries they will solve in this latest season. If you love a good mystery, this needs to be on your Anime to Stream in 2023 list.

The Misfit of Demon King Academy Season 2 (Crunchyroll)

Winter 2023 Anime Guide To Keep You Warm 5

The reclamation of the Anos Voldigoad’s title is still a work in progress, as the OG Demon King himself tries to navigate the schooling world of the Delzogade Demon King Academy. The climb is still steep as he continues to battle through his demon descendants. Even though he still carries the title of Misfit, he continues to strive for that peaceful future he desires for all demons. If you are a fan of shows like Lucifer or The Sandman, this could be right up your alley.

Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro Season 2 (Crunchyroll)

Winter 2023 Anime Guide To Keep You Warm 6

If you are looking to expand your horizons for your Anime to Stream in 2023 list, then this romantic, slice-of-life show could be something to try this season. It returns with more zany adventures of Senpai and Nagatoro, as the annoying Nagatoro tugs on Senpai’s heartstrings (and the audiences’) while still having some adorable moments. If you are already up to date, expect more spicy interactions with characters, new and returning.

The Way of the Househusband Season 2 (Netflix)

Winter 2023 Anime Guide To Keep You Warm 7

So, imagine if the movie John Wick was made, but he actually had a happier storyline. This is what Way of the Househusband essentially could be thought of. The ex-yakuza boss Tatsu continues his newly devoted domestic living with his wife Miku. Fans can expect to see more of his funny daily chores and interactions with old acquaintances and the police, who are terrified of him. If you are looking for something wholesome for your Anime to Stream in 2023 list, add this to your Netflix list now and go binge season one.

Bungou Stray Dogs Season 4 (Crunchyroll)

Winter 2023 Anime Guide To Keep You Warm 8

The action continues in Bungou Stray Dogs! If you love literary references and intrigue, mark this down on your list because it has been a mostly cult-like hit among fans. And for a fourth season to return, it has shown that it can withstand the test of time and still offer more mysteries and supernatural action to keep fans following Atsushi and Osamu.

Tokyo Revengers Season 2 (Crunchyroll)

Winter 2023 Anime Guide To Keep You Warm 3

The Tokyo Manji Gang returns in the new year as it made its way on this definitive Anime to Stream in 2023 list. Takemichi returns to solve the gang-related death of his childhood girlfriend Hinata, with her younger brother Naoto. The Black Dragons/Christmas Showdown arc this season will definitely have some more tense fights as Takemichi navigates the crime world in the past.

Vinland Saga Season 2 (Crunchyroll, Netflix)

Winter 2023 Anime Guide To Keep You Warm 9

With the popularity of God of War Ragnarök Norse mythology has been growing more popular too. If you have had your fixes of shows like Vikings or The Last Kingdom, then Vinland Saga has to be at the top of your list to watch in the Anime to Stream in 2023 lineup. Wit Studio (Spy x Family, Attack on Titan) returns with Thorfinn and has a lot of questions about what he will do now that he knows the truth and if he can go back home. Find out what fate has in store for Thorfinn.

New Anime Streaming Prospects

Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre (Netflix)

Winter 2023 Anime Guide To Keep You Warm 10

For the first time ever, the stories from one of Japan’s greatest horror writers, Junji Ito, will be adapted into a structured anime format. This series will adapt 20 stories from Ito tales, including favourites such as Tomie, Souichi, and Kubitsuri Kikyuu (The Hanging Balloons). While Halloween may have passed, this show should not be overlooked for the winter 2023 anime season.

Trigun Stampede (Crunchyroll)

Winter 2023 Anime Guide To Keep You Warm 11

If Cowboy Bebop was not up to your liking, or you need a fix for it, Trigun Stampede looks to be a nice solution. The show was said to be a re-imagining of the original 1990s manga and show, following a similar story with the charming adolescent Vash the Stampede. The original creator has directly worked on this project to offer a more accurate story of what the creator wanted for Vash in this wild space western ride, but the story has been tightly kept vague.

Spy Classroom (HiDive)

Winter 2023 Anime Guide To Keep You Warm 12

With its manga fans growing, the show should be a nice treat to entice more fans into this spy adventure show for the winter 2023 anime season. Based on the manga’s story, it will follow the lone survivor, Klaus, who decides to form a spy team/organization that specializes in ‘impossible missions’. It can be very on the nose with the references to the Mission Impossible films. The catch is that he only has one month to teach seven girls, hailing from various other spy schools, and they were all dropouts or washouts. Sounds like fun, right?

NieR: Automata Ver 1.1a (Crunchyroll)

Winter 2023 Anime Guide To Keep You Warm 4

You have heard that right! This show will be based on the action role-playing game Nier: Automata, developed by PlatinumGames and published by Square Enix. The story revolves around androids 2B, 9S and A2 and their battle to reclaim the machine-driven Earth overrun by powerful machines. With humanity trying their best to reclaim the planet from its machinated alien invaders, the war rages on. This can be a great entry point into the series or can be a nice addition for fans of the game.
