Rockstar Games’ Bully 2 and 3 were apparently recently scrapped in favour of Red Dead Redemption based on details from a former developer’s profile information.

If you were a fan of the classic 2006 action-adventure game Bully, prepare to be disappointed (but also, it was expected). Bully 2 and 3 were reportedly in the works but were recently cancelled in favour of focusing on Red Dead Redemption. This was based on a Reddit thread which found inferred information based on a former employee’s LinkedIn page.

A Redditor noticed Jon Young’s profile, who worked at Rockstar Games for 13 years before leaving the company. Young was a lead video editor for the research department on a lot of their games, from the Grand Theft Auto games, Midnight Club to the Red Dead Redemption games. Surprisingly, Young’s credits included “Bully 2 & 3 – Lead Video Editor, Research Dept. (2008).”

So, it seems like the sequel has been cooking for some time. However, fans have seen this happen to the series many times before. While there has not been anything confirmed on the game(s) being developed, there were recent job postings for the game on Rockstar’s job board.

The game was an open-world, third-person game that was popularized for its controversial violence and sexual content, being that it involved a school setting. The story follows juvenile delinquent student James “Jimmy” Hopkins, who is involuntarily enrolled at Bullworth Academy boarding school for a year and attempts to rise through the ranks of the school’s social system in order to put a stop to bullying. Players control Jimmy as he attempts to become more popular among the school’s various “cliques,” in addition to attending classes and completing various side missions.

A lot of this is speculation, and Bully 2 may still be in the works. Rockstar has been under a microscope since fans have been looking for leaks on GTA 6 for so long. GTA and Red Dead have been carrying the company pretty far, so it makes sense that adding a third franchise in there would be tough. Whether we will see Bully 2 announced at some point has yet to be determined.

Bully is available to play on Android, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Microsoft Windows, Wii, iOS and Steam (PC).
