PUBG Is Getting a Big Dragon Ball Crossover In July

The next crossover for PUBG Mobile will bring one of the most iconic franchises in the world to the game, Dragon Ball.

With the launch of version 2.7 in July, PUBG Mobile will be featuring the latest in a line of different anime collaborations. Announced via a press release, the details are currently sparse for exactly what this collaboration will feature, but apparently, it will bring “innovative new game modes, a cast of beloved Dragon Ball Super characters, and a slew of limited time sets and items to play with.”

The art accompanying the announcement features a Dragon Radar, seemingly suggesting a new mode could use the Dragon Balls as a mechanic.

At the same time, the announcement on Twitter features art from the recent feature film Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, which seems to suggest we could see characters from that on top of the series proper. We also don’t know how long the event will last, but these collaborations are typically playable for a month.

PUBG Mobile’s previous anime collaborations have already been pretty substantial. For example, the Jujutsu Kaisen collab added four new character skins and two new themed modes called Cursed Object Crate and Cursed Corpse Grenade. In the Cursed Object Crate mode, players had to find Sukuna’s Fingers, which were scattered around the map. It’s easy to see how a similar mode could be used with the Dragon Balls instead.

PUBG Mobile was first released in March 2018 as the mobile-only adaption of PUBG: Battlegrounds. The most obvious difference between the two is graphical quality, but PUBG Mobile also features a few different design choices, like audio cues that make it easier to locate enemies, more customization options, and slightly different modes.

PUBG Mobile is currently available for download on iOS and Android.
