My Hero Academia Season 7 Recap Is Out This Weekend 1

Crunchyroll announced they are releasing a full recap of the My Hero Academia anime series this weekend, following the premiere on May 4th.

It feels like forever since anime fans have witnessed the crazy events of the heroes and villains in My Hero Academia season 6, which aired from October 2022 to March 2023. Now, Crunchyroll announced this week that season 7 will begin airing new episodes weekly starting May 4 at 2:30 AM PT, simulcast from Japan exclusively on the streamer. Crunchyroll will also simulcast a four-episode special recap called “My Hero Academia: Memories,” starting on April 6 at 2:30 AM PT.

The special event is a carefully constructed recap of the whole anime series. It will have moments from eku’s entrance exam training for U.A. High School in Season 1 all the way through the Dark Hero arc in season 6. After a year’s break from the show, this will be the best way to catch back up with major plot points in prep for season 7.

My Hero Academia season 7 will be directed by Naomi Nakayama, following closely to the manga of the same name by Kohei Horikoshi. The series composition is written by Yosuke Kuroda. Studio BONES continues to animate the series, and the studio is also celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. The studio has brought to life countless anime series, which have gone on to win awards and critically-acclaimed: Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Soul Eater, Space Dandy, Bungo Stray Dogs, Mob Psycho 100, Carole & Tuesday, and this year’s sci-fi series Metallic Rouge.

Surprisingly, the opening theme song will be performed by TK from Ling Tosite Sigure. He previously sang the recognizable opening theme song “Unravel” for Tokyo Ghoul. He has a really soft, yet powerful voice so I am curious what style of opening theme he will sing for this new season of My Hero Academia. The show is still venturing in the darker arcs from the manga, so I could see a grittier, hard rock opening song.

It could match the energy for the introduction of a new American hero Cathleen Bate aka Star and Stripe. She is the number one pro hero of the U.S., and has one of the most powerful quirks of anyone introduced so far (aside from One for All and All for One). Her quirk New Order allows her to set a rule onto her surroundings, allowing her to manipulate and bestow new properties onto herself and the world around her. There are conditions I do not want to spoil, but just know she is also physically strong. The trailer already briefly introduced her.

For those unacquainted with the anime, here is a synopsis from Crunchyroll:

My Hero Academia is a Japanese anime series based on the popular comics by Kohei Horikoshi. It is set in a world where about eighty percent of the population has a superpowered Quirk. Heroes protect people and society from accidents, disasters, and villains—criminals who use their Quirks for evil. The story of Izuku Midoriya and his classmates at U.A. High School and their growth, fights, and friendship unfolds as they aim to become heroes.”

Be sure to check out the recap, out this weekend, leading up to the My Hero Academia season 7 premiere!
