Sony Acquires Valkyrie Entertainment To Strengthen Their Impressive Studio Lineup

Valkyrie Entertainment, the studio responsible for Infamous and God of War is no longer a free agent, as Sony dives in to acquire them.

In another powerful move, the company scooped up another renowned studio for their posse of impressive studios. Similar to the acquisition of Bluepoint Games earlier in the year, the acquisition gives the studio Sony’s support while also allowing them free reign over their own production. This marks the fifth studio they have acquired this year.

A Tweet from the Head of PlayStation Studios, Hermen Hulst, confirmed the move in a Tweet where he said “The studio will be making invaluable contributions to key PlayStation Studios franchises.”

Valkyrie Entertainment, while having had a hand in some key Sony developments, have also lent their services to Microsoft for help with Forza Motorsport 7, and other titles such as Middle Earth: Shadow of War and have been credited as such.

President and Founder of Valkyrie Entertainment, Joakim Wejdemar said in the press release today that “Since 2002, we have contributed to well over 100 titles, including great PlayStation franchises, such as God of War, inFAMOUS, and Twisted Metal,” including, “In our next chapter, we are excited to continue our relationship with some of the most talented teams in the world, expanding and contributing to the portfolio of amazing games available for PlayStation fans.”

The most notable part about all the agreements developers continue to make, is the creative freedom that is given to each developer under the Sony umbrella. The company will, as always, provide support for the developer (Valkyrie Entertainment) in exchange for their aim to remain vigilant in delivering truly excellent content and games that the studio is known for.

With this latest acquisition, it’s honestly anyone’s guess as to which studio Sony is going to buy next.
