Xiaomi offered a breakdown of the new Xiaomi 13 Pro, utilizing Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor.

Vivo was the first manufacturer to announce their new smartphones would implement Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor: the X90 Pro and IQOO 11 series. But now, Xiaomi have announced the all-new Xiaomi 13 Pro and its 13 series smartphones, which will also be taking advantage of using the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. Two other highlight features were the 1-inch-type camera sensor and up to 120W wired charging capabilities.

While both offer exciting new features and the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, The Xiaomi 13 Pro and its regular 13 brethren will have different designs. The 13 will have a flat 6.36-inch 2,400 x 1,080 AMOLED display, iPhone-like aluminum sides and either glass or leather back options. As for the mighty 13 Pro will have a wrap-around 6.73-inch 2K+ AMOLED screen (3,200 x 1,400) with vegan leather or ceramic back versions.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform will really show its colours with hardware-accelerated ray-tracing and improved gaming performance—allowing both phones to have 120Hz displays to keep up at up to 1,900 nits of peak brightness. On to the camera specs, the Xiaomi 13 Pro will have some of the best features, packing a wallop with its 50-megapixel (MP) f/1.9 main camera—including that Type 1-inch sensor (like other Type 1-inch sensors it’s only 8.8 x 13.2mm, but still significantly larger than with most smartphones).

It will also have a 50MP 3.2 zoom camera (75mm equivalent), optical image stabilization (OIS), and a floating lens. And to top it all off, it will have a 50MP f/2.2 ultra-wide camera (14mm equivalent), and 32MP punch-hole selfie cam—say goodbye to blurry selfies! The Xiaomi 13 will have the same selfie camera, a 50MP f/1.8 OIS main camera with a smaller sensor, a 10MP 3.2x zoom OIS zoom camera and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide (15mm equivalent) camera.

Again, highlighting the Xiaomi 13 Pro’s ridiculous 120W wired charging specs, it will be able to charge a 4,820mAh battery from zero to 100 percent charge in just 19 minutes. That is just under a full anime episode! While this was an impressive feat, the Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition is still faster. Its 50W wireless charging will take about 36 minutes to a full charge. So, just under the typical length of a She-Hulk: Attorney At Law episode.

The 13 will have a smaller 4,500 mAh battery and is limited to 67W wired charging (38 minutes to 100 percent) and 50W wireless charging (48 minutes to a full charge). Some other features included on both models will include LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage on both models (8GB and 128GB up to 12GB and 512GB on both models), Dolby Atmos on the Pro model and Leica camera tech. They will both feature an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance (just do not swim too deep underwater for too long) and runs on Xiaomi’s MIUI 14 software, which is based on Android 13.

Xiaomi and Leica have stated how their collaborative efforts have allowed them to build a colour model based on 4,700 scenes, presumably allowing for improved accuracy. Both the Xiaomi 13 Pro and 13 have been announced for the Chinese markets to receive its first models on December 14th. As with the Xiaomi 12, they will probably be released internationally a few months later (not including the U.S.). The Xiaomi 13 Pro prices will start at 4,999 yuan ($720) while the 13 will be around 3,999 yuan ($570). For such high-specs, the price is too good to be true.
