Summer anime 2023 lists have been coming out or are slowly being released; here is a collection of anime to check out this hot, hot summer.

As more streaming platforms bring more anime exclusively to their services, the more dispersed they are, the more hidden some of the good ones can be to find. Of course, everyone around the world will be crowding around their TVs, laptops, tablets or laptops for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 and Bungo Stray Dogs Season 5. But there are so much more anime shows to check out! Here is the list of summer anime 2023 to keep on the radar across sites like Crunchyroll, HIDIVE, Hulu, Netflix, and Disney+.
With Anime Expo 2023 announcements and trailer premieres revealing what is to come in the future, summertime is now. Fans were offered glimpses into some more looks into some of these upcoming series beginning this month. There was a ton of extra footage shown at the convention, along with some premiere episode drops for attendees, hyping up the shows about to begin and those still to come in future seasons.
We will begin with some returning series that have fans hyped! My off-mainstream pick out of the returning anime series for summer 2023 would be the slice-of-life rom-com, Masamune-kun’s Revenge R. The first season ran from January 2017 to March 2017 with only 12 episodes and an OVA. That six-year gap was brutal.
The show follows a young boy named Masamune Makabe who grew up best friends with a wealthy girl named Aki Adagaki. The plot of the show revolves around Masamune revealing his crush on Aki but gets rejected and publicly shamed when she nicknames him “Piggy” in front of everyone. Afterwards, Masamune changes his school, name and his diet to look super handsome—all for his revenge plot when he meets Aki high school again. It is truly a spectacle to see, and I cannot wait to see how their relationship develops further in season 2!

Next, summer anime 2023 will be bringing some new series to showcase, worthy of getting some fresh eyes on them. My non-mainstream pick for brand-new anime series this season would be a toss-up of Reborn as a Vending Machine, Now I Wander the Dungeon, and The Masterful Cat is Depressed Again Today. Both plots have such long ridiculous names that more or less explain the plot itself. They also carry around the same level of comedy. One has a human-like cat butler, while the other has a vending machine that used to be a human male. Summertime is a great time for weirdness and fun!
