What is Gamescom?

Gamescom is known to be world’s largest video game, next to E3 and the latest Summer Games Fest. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, in 2019, the event saw 373,000 visitors, with hundreds of exhibitors showcasing their latest gaming, esports, and tech projects. Many gaming fans gathered to celebrate new game announcements at the Koelnmesse Exhibition Center in Cologne, Germany.

Typically, the in-person event would allow the attendees to try out news games before release. The rest of the exhibition would involve community activities, like cosplay contests and esports competitions. Additionally, it would be used as a meeting point for the games’ industry’s retail, trade, and media representatives.

This year, gamescom 2022 has returned to its full capacity in-person for a five-day journey, from August 24 to August 28, 2022. The developer conference, Devcom, precedes gamescom from August 22 to August 23.
