Alien Life Form Crash-Lands Onto Maximum Effort

All-New ALF Content Releasing Via Ryan Reynolds' TV Channel

As a tease for the return of ALF to his Maximum Effort Channel, Ryan Reynolds released a video showcasing the classic Alien Life Form selling Mint Mobile.

The Maximum Effort Channel, which is available to stream on platforms like Fubo, Amazon Freevee, and Tubi, has acquired the rights to the classic 1980s sitcom, ALF. The channel, which is owned by famous-Canadian and actor-entrepreneur Ryan Reynolds, will air re-runs of the show, while also featuring brand-new ALF-centric shorts promoting a variety of brands such as Mint Mobile, HIMS, and Ring. The first of such videos was posted by Reynolds on his Instagram and YouTube channel, as he touted “marketing should be FUN.”

While these new sponsored segments—which it is calling Maximum Moments—aren’t exactly the ALF reboot some fans may have been hoping for, it’s clear these branded shorts will be incredibly fun to watch as the company worked with ALF creator Paul Fusco and Shout! Studios to create them. The Maximum Effort Channel launched in June, with Reynolds creating a ton of content for the new brand himself, including the all-new Bedtime Stories with Ryan.

“At Maximum Effort, we love taking risks and blurring the lines between shows and sponsorship because we believe both can be equally entertaining,” said Reynolds in a statement. “Besides my irrational love of ALF growing up, one of the reasons we licensed this show was precisely because Paul, Shout! Studios and our intrepid brand partners wanted to plot with us to bring ALF back to life. Tune in this Caturday!” The spots will begin airing during an ALF marathon on July 29th, 2023, in an event that the channel is calling “Caturday.”

With several, free streaming services on the market that make their money through ad-supported content, this seems to be a fresh, exciting way to integrate those ads in a fun way alongside classic content that people want to revisit. Ryan Reynolds continues to build his brands and make real strives in the industry while selling his ownership stakes in Aviation Gin and Mint Mobile in recent years. Alongside fellow actor Rob McElhenney, Reynolds also owns the Welsh football club, Wrexham AFC, with a documentary following the whole process, called Welcome To Wrexham.
