The Pokémon GO app will be honouring its trading card game, Pokémon Trading Card Game: Pokémon GO expansion, with in-game rewards this month as the cards hit retail stores in July.
With another successful Pokémon GO Fest 2022 wrapped up this past weekend, more exciting news was announced! Today, The Pokémon Company International released information that the next in-game event will be part of celebrating the upcoming release of the Pokémon Trading Card Game: Pokémon GO expansion. And vice versa, they had already revealed that there will be redeemable promo codes in every Pokémon TCG: Pokémon GO product.
This event will be great for those committed to collecting all the special themed versions of Pikachu because this in-game event will have Pikachu dripped out with a TCG-themed hat. Players will also have the opportunity to catch Mewtwo again in five-star raids, along with Mewtwo V that will have special artwork (good luck getting the shiny version!).
Here is a more detailed breakdown of all the awesome events to come:
- Trainers will have the opportunity to catch a Pikachu wearing a Pokémon TCG-themed hat in the Pokémon GO app. This Pikachu can also be found in Pokémon Go booster packs.
- Mewtwo will appear in five-star raids in the Pokémon GO app, and Mewtwo V will be featured in the Pokémon GO expansion with special artwork inspired by raids.
- Wimpod and Golisopod will make their debut in the Pokémon GO app, as both Pokémon also appear in the Pokémon GO expansion.
For trading card collectors, the Pokémon TCG expansion will be available at participating retail stores beginning on July 1, 2022, highlighting the OG starters: Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle, with their evolutions as well. This will be a fantastic chance to obtain a Radiant Venusaur, Radiant Charizard and Radiant Blastoise, which will be based on the Shiny versions in the game.
To delve deeper into the game inspiration, each trading card pack will have promo codes that can be redeemed for in-game avatar items like a hat and T-shirt combo that matches Pikachu’s Pokémon TCG-themed hat. These promo codes can be redeemed at the Niantic Labs site from July 17, 2022, to July 31, 2024 (two years is plenty of time in case you misplace them).
The events in the game app will run from June 16, 2022, to June 30, 2022—that will give worldwide trainers 15 days to stack up on their Pikachu and Mewtwo catching in raids and random spawns. Mark your calendars for this special collaboration and go catch ‘em all!
