The Speculated Console Is Expected To Be Launched At The End Of 2024

Spec Leak: Is the PS5 Pro 'Trinity' Set to Redefine Console Gaming?

Leaked specs of the unannounced PS5 Pro, codenamed ‘Trinity,’ reveal a 33.5 teraflops GPU and potential 8K gaming capabilities.

The specification of the unannounced PS5 Pro, going by the codename ‘Trinity,’ seems to have been leaked online by the YouTuber Moore’s Law is Dead, with further details being provided by “Insider Gaming” and then verified by IGN to explain the source of the specification was from Sony Interactive Entertainment Developer Network.

With the leak being provided by Moore’s Law Is Dead, the YouTuber has 176K subscribers and is mainly focused on sharing leaks about graphic cards and video game consoles. He has a very rocky track record with his leaks, as the audience sees him as unreliable, but he has been correct about the NVIDIA shortage and RDNA 2 predictions.

Spec Leak: Is The Ps5 Pro 'Trinity' Set To Redefine Console Gaming?

From the document about the specs, it is expected that the PS5 Pro CPU will be identical to the standard PS5 but will provide a new mode called High CPU Frequency Mode, which increases the CPU by 10% to 3.85GHz but comes with the cost of reducing the GPU performance around 1%.

The biggest improvement is that the PS5 Pro would be powered by a 33.5 teraflops GPU, 23.22 more teraflops compared to the standard PS5 with its 10.28 teraflops. With the massive bump to the GPU, the PS5 Pro can expect to render the games 45% faster than the standard PS5 and a planned resolution of up to 8K.

Alongside the GPU improvement, the PlayStation will have an upscaling and antialiasing feature called ‘PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution’ to boost the resolution of the game, similar to AMD FSR and NVIDIA DLSS technologies.

The feature is aimed to provide sets of settings for gamers to improve their gameplay as it can output to 4K and 60 FPS for those who seek performance with a good resolution, or 8K and 30 FPS for those who want to play their game with the best resolution output. The PSSR would be a great feature that would benefit future titles as they become more demanding to run.

As someone who loves to play Final Fantasy Series on their PlayStation 5, this could be a good improvement that I am very much looking forward to and surprised about. Luckily for those who would like to grab the PS5 Pro, such as myself, it is speculated by analysts that Sony could be releasing the console in late 2024 to boost interest in time for Rockstar’s anticipated game, Grand Theft Auto 6 as it will be released in 2025.

Previously, Sony had hoped to ship 25 million PS5 consoles during its current fiscal year, but it is now expected to miss the target by 4 million units, with Sony’s value dropping by around $10 billion.
