Brutalist Review Style (Version 2)

The Razer Cobra Pro gaming mouse has quickly become my new favourite mouse in the time I have been testing it. As someone who’s been neck-deep in the tech and gaming world for years, I’ve encountered many a device boasting to offer the perfect blend of style, functionality, and affordability. The Razer Cobra Pro gaming mouse, the premium sibling to the Razer Cobra, lives up to all of these claims and more, solidifying its place as a gamer’s best friend, whether they are in the middle of a fierce competition or just want to chill out and play.

As soon as you open the Cobra Pro’s signature black and green box, the build quality and attention to detail Razer has put into this new offering are immediately apparent. It looks great with its simple design and matte black finish that has become synonymous with Razer gaming gear. The Cobra Pro stands out in the best possible way with its clean design, glossy black accents and well-placed RGB lighting, which give it a sense of sophistication and high-tech skill. It is also apparent how much smaller the Cobra is than most of the Razer Pro range of mice.

Comparatively, the Cobra Pro maintains a balance between the aggressively futuristic aesthetics of some gaming mice and the minimalistic elegance of regular desktop mice. For instance, the Cobra Pro feels like a more refined, smaller sibling when placed alongside the Razer DeathAdder. While the DeathAdder leans towards a more ergonomic design with larger curves, the Cobra Pro opts for a sleeker, more symmetrical approach. Despite their design differences, both mice unmistakably carry the premium quality and signature style associated with the Razer brand.

The Razer Cobra Pro is much smaller than the DeathAdder, measuring just 119.6mm (4.71 inches) long, 62.5mm (2.46 inches) wide and 77 grams. Compared to the DeathAdder’s 127.0mm (5.00 inches) long, 72.6mm (2.86 inches) wide and 88 grams, you have a smaller, more portable offering that still has all the features we have come to expect from the Pro range.

The Razer Cobra Pro comes with a well-designed braided cable and the option to go wireless if you wish. With three different connection modes—HyperSpeed Wireless, Bluetooth, and Wired USB Type C—the Cobra Pro ensures that you are never out of options, regardless of your gaming setup. The freedom to choose between these three modes provides unparalleled flexibility and convenience that is sure to appeal to all gamers.

Adding to the convenience quotient is the HyperSpeed Multi-Device Dongle. By allowing you to connect your wireless mouse and keyboard to a single dongle, the Cobra Pro frees up valuable USB ports on your rig. This is a clever design feature that not only reduces cable clutter but also makes setup a breeze.

As if that were not enough, Razer has also embraced the future with the Cobra Pro’s wireless charging capability. As I mentioned when I looked at the Basilisk V3 Pro, this feature, which is compatible with the Mouse Dock Pro and the Wireless Charging Puck, introduces a seamless and convenient way to keep the device powered up for those long gaming sessions.

It’s a great way to keep your mouse charged when you’re not using it, and I have to say I love the clean look of the dock. Thankfully, the mouse also boasts an impressive 100 hours on HyerSpeed Wireless or 170 hours on Bluetooth, so you shouldn’t have to worry about the battery running out during a gaming session.

Powered by the Focus Pro 30K optical sensor, it boasts a resolution accuracy of 99.8% – making it one of the most accurate sensors on the market to date.

Picking up the mouse, I was immediately impressed with how comfortable the Razer Corba Pro was to use, despite my reservations about its smaller size. Designed for a fingertip grip or claw grip style user, Razer has struck an outstanding balance with the mouse, making it feel incredibly light while packing enough features to stand alongside the rest of the range and deliver where it counts.

The button placement is perfect for a wide range of games, and when testing Fortnite, Doom Eternal and even Age of Empires II, I never felt lacking or uncomfortable using the mouse, and due to its size and weight, it’s a fantastic choice to throw in your bag when you’re gaming on the go.

As much as I love the look and feel of the mouse, the Cobra Pro really shows its hand when it comes to technical performance. Powered by the Focus Pro 30K optical sensor, it boasts a resolution accuracy of 99.8% – making it one of the most accurate sensors on the market to date. It also tracks perfectly on glass at least 4mm thick, proving that Razer has gone to great lengths to ensure that your gaming performance never suffers, no matter what surface you’re using.

The optical mouse switches are equally impressive. Seen in other mice, such as the DeathAdder V3 Pro and Naga V2 Pro, the Gen-3 switches featured in the Cobra Pro eliminate double-clicking and debounce delay. And with a whopping 90 million click life, you can rest assured that the Cobra Pro will easily survive the most intense gaming sessions. Unfortunately, we haven’t had the Razer Cobra Pro long enough to test this lifespan, but if it’s anything like the other mice with the same switches, buyers should have no worries and be able to click for years without even considering an upgrade.

At $129.99, the Razer Cobra Pro is a premium product with a price tag to match. But with high-end performance, connectivity options and innovative features like wireless charging and AI integration, it’s clear that this is more than just a gaming mouse — it’s an investment in your gaming future. For dedicated gamers who demand nothing but the best, the Razer Cobra Pro is more than worth its price. At the higher end of the price range, Razer also has a slightly more affordable Cobra that costs an incredibly impressive $39.99 and offers many of the same essential features as the Cobra Pro.

Razer has also made the Cobra Pro upgradeable to HyperPolling wireless technology, making it faster and more reliable than other offerings. Although not included in the basic package, the Mouse Dock Pro or HyperPolling Wireless Dongle can be purchased separately to enable true 4000Hz wireless polling rates, a fun addition for anyone looking to get the most out of their gaming gear. Thankfully there will be bundles at launch that let you get everything you need at one price, ranging from $139.99 for the puck and mouse, $144.99 for the mouse and Hyperpolling Wireless Dongle, to $169.99 for the dock, puck and mouse altogether, should you wish to get everything right from the start.

Despite being on the pricier side, the Cobra Pro delivers excellent value for money. You’re getting a wireless mouse with multiple connection options, top-of-the-line optical sensors and switches, and AI functions that significantly enhance performance. It’s a premium package that justifies its premium price.

“The Razer Cobra Pro is a powerful, versatile, well-built device that delivers on the company’s promises.”

Additionally, the design of the Cobra Pro cannot be overlooked. The sleek and stylish aesthetics, the seamless integration of its various parts, and the solid feel of the device all contribute to a sense of a well-engineered product. Even the minimalist RGB lighting, with stylish underglow and 11 programmable lighting zones, which is customizable via Razer’s Synapse software, adds a touch of class without being too in-your-face.

Of course, like any product, it’s not without its drawbacks. For one, the need for the Mouse Dock Pro and/or Wireless Charging Puck to take advantage of the wireless charging feature might be an added expense for some. Also, its weight and dimensions may not be to everyone’s taste. However, these are minor issues when viewed in the context of what the Cobra Pro offers.

The Razer Cobra Pro is a powerful, versatile, well-built device that delivers on the company’s promises. It provides an exceptional level of control and precision that can truly make a difference in competitive gaming. Whether you’re an esports professional or simply someone who demands the best from their gaming gear, the Razer Cobra Pro gaming mouse is a product you won’t want to pass up.
